Looks like /r/The_Donald subreddit is back up again after going dark for almost a day.
Joined. Will likely ignore it, but help increase the numbers.
“Looks like /r/The_Donald subreddit is back up again after going dark for almost a day.’
I’ve been following this on FR all day, but I still fail to grasp the overall situation.
It would be great if one of you denizens at /r/The_Donald subreddit could explain “The Donald subreddit,” from A to B, for simpletons like me.
Seriously....Give me the scoop, the news, the mystery meat.
Thanks.
The CEO of reddit is a childish moonbat control freak. Most of reddit is a far left echo chamber, but The_Donald is mostly conservative. [Would be all conservative, except they strongly champion LBGT rights.]
Spez—user name of the CEO—has been harassing The_Donald for many months. He’s gone back and actually edited comments after the person had posted them. He vastly understates their membership [listed as 400,000+, but in fact well over 6 million]. He allows wholesale ‘brigading,’ which means all his liberal shills are allowed to overrun The_Donald and down-vote every post to oblivion. He also let’s all his pet moonbat subs (separate divisions on reddit, kind of like our ‘religion’ section) malign The_Donald all day every day by name, but no one on The_Donald is allowed to mention the names of other sub-reddits.
Oh, and Spez has worked out an algorithm that keeps The_Donald off the front page of reddit, so that new visitors to the site will never find out about it. He’s a very petty, vindictive leftist.
Spez’ newest harassment is to take a post with something in the neighborhood of 12,000 ‘likes,’ and reset it to zero. It’s unbelievable. It’s as if he was determined to keep pushing until he finally got the reaction he was looking for.
I guess he did. The leading moderators of The_Donald called him out and rebelled against his over-the-top discrimination. He retaliated by permanently banning three of them. He’s just a power-crazed leftist dictator run amuck.
If that doesn’t make sense, please feel free to ask more questions. I’ll just add that aside from salty language, The_Donald is a pretty good community. They are very patriotic, and as you’d expect, very pro-Trump.
I’ll give a few pointers on lingo and other things:
- Pepe the frog is basically an avatar for the underdog Donald voters that don’t give up. The use of Pepe as a meme subject started on 4chan, after being appropriated from its original creator. Rare Pepe’s are jokingly traded as currency, and are the focus of most memes. These memes act as a comical way of making fun of our political foes.
- “Reeeeeeeeeee” is the sound that a social justice warrior (sjw) makes when they see or hear something they don’t like, such as the truth.
- Upvoting comments and posts is self-explanatory. However, the super liberal administration of reddit have taken to erasing upvotes and other nonsense, so as to belittle or hide the hated Donald forum. They have enacted ruled that apply exclusively to The_Donald forum, while letting all the liberal forums break those some rules. The_Donalds mods have tried to defend against these abuses by the admin, but admin have all the power.
- In spite of the drama, T_D has been very energetic and influential this past year. They are read and referenced by the campaign and many conservative pundits and media commentators.
Thanks for the overview; it’s much appreciated, Fantsywriter.
I’ll absorb what you’ve given me, sleep on it, and probably follow up with more questions tomorrow.
Cheers.
Thanks for filling in some blanks for me, catbertz. The pieces are starting to fall in for me.
Cheers.
Sounds good!
My pleasure. A good place to ask questions and learn more is /r/AskThe_Donald
Just find the search box on reddit and type: AskThe_Donald
There are also conservative subreddits on Reddit, such as r/conservative It may be closer to FR in providing a calmer forum for discussion. T_D is a bit wilder, though the age spread runs from teens up to senior citizens.
This.
Screw SPEZ. He's using The_Donald as his own honeypot.
Many memes and funny pictures you see originate there. It’s so pro Trump in such a good natured way that it will make your head spin. We know the president needs our support and they to do.
Reading is fundamental, meaning the only general guide is to find or pick up the material, and read it. www.reddit.com. On my browser, I see a "Want to join?" link in the upper right corner. The "main page" has a search function.
Reddit is "like facebook" or "like twitter" in the sense that they are sites for open war between competing factions, with certain territories being occupied by one camp or the other. It takes some time and reading experience to figure out which side occupies which spaces.
Reddit is organized by subreddits (topics, groups) and then articles, and then posts. See subreddit "thedonald" for an example.
Looks like we are sailing on a similar course: Navigating Reddit
Thanks...that’s more than I knew.
The hierarchy of the database that is mysterious.
‘Reeeeeeeeeee is the sound that a social justice warrior (sjw) makes when they see or hear something they dont like, such as the truth.’
It derived originally from the sound an African Screaming Frog makes when it’s startled, threatened or frightened. I.e.: it ties into the Pepe theme.

Know your meme: Reeeeee!
About
REEEEEEE is an onomatopoeic expression of intense rage or frustration typically associated with the Angry Pepe character and used by those who frequent the /r9k/ board on 4chan. It is meant to represent the unique croak produced by several species of frogs when agitated.
Origin
Certain frog species are known to produce a shrill scream noise to ward of predators when threatened.[12][13] On October 25th, 2009, the earliest known video of this behavior was uploaded by YouTuber ppparaone, which gained over 2.5 million views and 4,600 comments in the next six years (shown below). This video would later one become even more popular with a screenshot of a comment, and spread to humor content aggregator clickbait websites such as Buzzfeed [14] or Smosh [15].
The earliest known archived use of the onomatopoeic version of the scream was submitted to 4chans /r9k/[7] board on December 27th, 2014, featuring an image of Pepe the Frog accompanied by the message REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I think you’ll find that the usage has changed on reddit and 4chan from this dated definition. Reeeeeeeeeee is now the voice of triggered liberals. All you have to do is browse the volumes of postings on both to see its current usage.

I browse The_Donald every day. You’ve fixated on one usage of the term, but it’s by no means exclusive or even dominant. Are you familiar with autistic screeching?
Know your meme is hardly an outdated source, btw. It’s far superior to the isolated examples you rely on.
I’m there day/night as well. I’ve been on reddit long before the demise of digg, and T_D at its inception. I could spend all day providing usage examples ;)
