The names of German military barracks honouring a handful of World War Two officers should changed to show that the country's post-war armed forces have made a clean break from their Nazi past, Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday.
Having come in for criticism herself after accusing the Bundeswehr armed forces of "weak leadership" amid a national debate over whether there are right-wing extremists in the military, von der Leyen told Bild am Sonntag newspaper the barracks should no longer be named after Nazi-era officers.

No, I attended PLDC as a Spec Six in 1983 ... was in Germany from 1982-1985.
I once saw a picture here that had all the female NATO Defense ministers next to the picture of the Russian Defense Minister below.
The Russian minister with his Slavic-Central Asian face could have ridden with Attila the Hun or even Genghis Khan. The four female defense ministers looked they were riding to a sorority reunion.
Which pictures scream DEFENSE AND RELEASE THE DOGS OF WAR!
Which picture screams “Whatever? I got to get my nails done!”
The West simply isn’t serious about defending itself!
Wait until the next terrorist attack kills thousands!
Maybe a nuke, gas, bio or at least a “dirty bomb”!
There needs to be a military coup in Germany, France & the UK (Where’s Cromwell when you need him?) and serious grim faced men take over!

Then in late '94 and '95, it was goodbye to Devins and off to the new home at Ft Carson, except for First Batt, still in Dootschland at Panzer Kaserne in Boblingen; look for the Eidelweiss patches sewn inside their berets.
At one point during the '60s, the 7th Army NCO Skool Cadre had all SF NCOs at Flint carrying swagger sticks so that the NCO Academy trainees would have to salute them *for practice.* There wasn't a M151 Jeep antenna left within a hundred klicks after that fiasco.

I would have been a bit more polite, and said he could have ridden one of Zukhov's tanks into Berlin for the final battle to crush the Nazis, or jumped with Vasily Margelov's VDV Paratroopers. But that would not be so: he spent a decade as a construction engineer [think the Siberian Donald Trump] then became the head of the Russian Rescuer Corps, essentially their version of FEMA, in a region where earthquakes and collapsed buildings are taken quite seriously. And even now, Shoygu still holds the position of President of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.
You could say that the Russian Defense Minister is a trained and experienced First Responder. And he's the one credited/blamed for the *little green army men* paramilitary irregulars at work in Georgia, the Ukraine and along the Polisj border region.
On the other hand, Putin has really ugly stewardesses on board his VIP aircraft.

Actually she’s a Communist. You can tell the difference by seeing who’s she’s destroying. Nazi’s kill outsiders and Communists kill their own people.
I guess the real question is can he stay on a horse!
