I had a professor this semester who is a community organizer from Chicago (I kid you not). He was utterly worthless, I am one of a number of students who reported him for being worthless, and he hates me (because he always did and) because the administration has evidently cracked down on him.
He holds a chokehold over EVERY student in my discipline, since every student will have to take this ONE professor for one worthless (waste of money), but required course.
What do I do? This is so wrong. So very very heinously wrong. He is so worthless, and so transparently partisan, yet he gets to pick winners and losers, and I am going into debt for this degree!
This is a Republican area. With a Republican alumnus base, and a Republican legislature. I am in absolute despair and am utterly depressed. Please give me advice.
If it was a degree in acting, fine. I might get a grade on how I depicted a murderer.
However that’s depicting. If it’s a school of depicting when it’s supposed to be a school of something earnest, I don’t want its sheepskin... period.
Take the class at another college (perhaps during summer school) and transfer the credit back. Then extend your middle finger to him.
Sounds like it might be possible especially since Ms. Adderess is dealing with advanced schooling anyhow, so there is some time to play with.
ALL degrees are in acting. Acting like and adult, acting responsible, acting like you actually care about the class, acting like the professor isn’t a dink.
That’s really the only thing jobs see in a degree. A 4 year degree you can’t put up with BS and toe the line.
Education is your job right now. Perform like a good employee who doesn’t like his boss. Find out what the professor wants, and GIVE IT TO HIM. No, you won’t like it. Yes, you’ll throw up a little in your throat everytime you have to regurgitate things that you don’t believe in, but that you know he lives by.
In order words, suck it up, buttercup. This is ONE class out of many. One class that you are required to take. Don’t let your idealism wreck your future. Use the class as training for your “people skills”, which, unless you are going to be a monk and live on a mountain dealing with only monkeys, is a universal skill.
You will be the better for it! Good luck!
Oh man I can pretend to be the biggest socialist liberal in the world on command. I could fool anyone. The thing is you shouldn’t be in a situation where you have to do that for very long. It can become grating. College is only 4 years. Easy peasy.
I don't think so. We disagree, quite openly and clearly, and I think have exhausted the point.
Wow! I didn’t see your post until I posted mine, so GET OUTTA MY HEAD!!! LOL!! Mind meld!
Sorry... you are mixing two definitions of acting.
Acting earnest, and acting like a poser on a stage.
Get A’s in your major, cultivate professional relationships with those professors, spend your discretionary time hunting for high quality internships. Ignore the leftist boobs. They always and everywhere insert themselves into positions where you are compelled to pay attention to them. That won’t end with college, as anyone who has ever dealt with their local building department can tell you.
Also I don’t want a job that expects lies.
Let me say that when you call a professor worthless you are not adding to your cause unless you follow that up with several examples. I suggest you come up with at least three very good examples where you show that people are not learning. They are learning something that is not true or is immoral, or not legal or within school standards. Or you can show that his grading is arbitrary and contrary to the rules the professor set.
The fact that you disagree with the professor has nothing to do with your point. Students often disagree with professors. And professors are often wrong. But that does not make a class invalid. At least not in the view of a college.
If you want to get back at the school or the professor. Go online. There are lots of reviews for schools and classes. Go to town there. Be prolific. Too many conservatives haven’t. And that is why we have to take stupid classes.
Oh, I think I did. But I did the ethical thing in the face of it. Judgment day is not right here, right now.
I will tell you the secret to college success: in class give the professor EXACTLY what he/she/it wants.
In assignments, toe the party line word for word. When called on, ape their “arguments” and make it ALMOST look like you are not mocking them.
Outside of class, your time and your ideas are your own. In class, don’t even try. Just keep your head down and repeat “this too shall pass.”
Do NOT let anyone say otherwise. You need to pray to the Almighty Grade. All the moral high ground in the world won’t help you if you get an F — and that F is NOT challengable, trust me.
And if you are going in debt to go to school you are doing it wrong — to the point of being stupid. The undergraduate diploma from a State school is just as good as a diploma from Harvard or Yale. A little more if you are going on to post-grad.
For once we’re in 100% agreement. Of course part of the problem is youth, when you’re college age 4 years of college seems like FOREVER. When you get to our age 4 years goes by before you notice. But definitely, keep your eye on the prize and parrot the crap.
Not helpful?? Really? What do you suggest? Follow the lead of our leftist masters? Claim victim status? Find a yellow journalist and look for publicity? If this is a legitimate posting, then perhaps he should recognize the disgusting truth about today’s “higher education” and QUIT! Look for an honest trade, start a business, do something other than go into debt to those who would enslave us in exchange for their brainwashing. And while he’s at it, tell EVERYONE he meets to run like heck from todays “educators”.
I went to engineering school and was mostly spared such crap. But that is what an actually useful degree does. That degree is still resonating in my career decades later.
The only other way around it is to take an equivalent course online and have the credits transferred in. You will still have to go belly up and give whatever professor the answers he wants
So it's leftist indoctrination you are taking. That's too bad this professor feels the need to try to indoctrinate students instead of teaching the required course.
Sadly, stuff like this happens on our colleges and universities these days. Until these issues are addressed, just get through the course the best you can.
The best thing you can do afterwards is continue to reject these libtards agenda throughout your life. The more Americans do that, the less relevent these libtards become in the future and you get the last laugh.
MAGA!
