It would make for a pretty bad movie. Or they could just keep the place clean so there's no rodents, and the snakes would move out. I wouldn't see the snakes as a big deal, except that you would want to clean the place up. [Note: In accordance with FR tradition, I did not read the article.]

Get cats, five or six tabbys will clean out the snakes in a summer.

I watched an “Infested” episode where a house had a snake den within its foundation; there didn’t seem to be any way of getting rid of them. They were garters IIRC, but they were everywhere - and created a horrible stink. The home was eventually abandoned.

Not in my house like this story but...
When I first bought our farm I had a barn and two outbuildings overrun with animals. I trapped over 40 (lost count after 40) of Raccoons, Possums, and Woodchucks out of those 3 buildings.

Dang. I wish there were snakes all over my house! I've noticed however that while it was always extremely rare for me to find or catch a snake, people that hate them and kill them on sight seem to find them continually.
