What a President can do in 2017

"What can our President(s) really do?...seriously...I am flabbergasted."

TOPICS: Conspiracy; Humor; Reference; Weird Stuff
KEYWORDS: actions; authority; president; results
Recently I have been mulling over the thought that the President of the United States of America - the Highest Office in the land - is little more than a young person being elected to the office of High School Class President.

Let's say "Don" runs for Class Pres. and motivates the electorate (classmates) to vote for him overwhelmingly on the basis of changing the curriculum to emphasize math and sciences and to allow for expanded class schedules for those who may have part-time jobs in the mornings or evenings.

The powers that be - teachers, administrators say: "Isn't that special how Don has really got into this - he has a future as a politician!"

Then once Don is elected he goes to his first School Board meeting and lays out his plans to implement his platform.

Superintendent Soros says: "Don, we really appreciate all you have done - you really got the kids fired up - but, in truth the curriculum is fixed and any variance might get us in trouble with the State Accrediting authority (banks)...and changing hours for teachers would have to be approved by the teachers Union.

Secretary Sandy then chimes in and says: "But on the positive side Don...you can pick the theme for the Spring Dance :-)

Not meaning to be insulting, but this President is sitting on the most explosive issue or the last ? years.

North Korea.

Trump and Tillerson and Mattis are navigating this swamp perfectly.

If you are not drilling down into this issue, you are wasting your time here.

North Korea is one of the big, steaming piles of negligence that Obama left behind him for Trump to step in.

Well to be honest - I was looking at my post as more of a comment on Domestic Policy and the Budget “Deal”.

I realize that Foreign Policy is a different deal.

North Korea is part of the job. The GOP and Trump caved.

And if Obozo had passed a proper budget, Trump wouldn’t have gotten anything until September. Be happy for what he has done considering the circumstances.

One man's problem is another man's opportunity.

Obama is an ideologically bound-up loser...a socialist agitator.

Obama creates problems...Trump is a problem solver.

Good man. Always good to be honest.

I screw up all the time. Fessing up clears my conscience.

Hang tough...and do the right thing.

Which is pretty stupid thought considering the President is the one can shape the direction of one of the branches of government -- the courts and Supreme Court.

Trump has also cut billions in regulations and worked to save and bring jobs to the US.

And, BTW, he's commander-in-chief.

Please, please, please...don’t take my initial post as a blast against my guy Trump. It was intended to demonstrate the depth of the “Swamp” and how hard it is for one man to fix things against all the “powers that be”.

Trump is serving this country well by taking a chainsaw to various executive branch agencies to roll back an agenda that started at least fifty years ago. If he does nothing else he will have served this country well.

The cherry on top is the Supreme Court. I suspect he’ll impart a conservative direction to the court that will last long after he leaves office.

It’s all good.

“And if Obozo had passed a proper budget, Trump wouldn’t have gotten anything until September. “

Sorry, the responsibility for developing and passing a budget lies with the Congress, not the president. The failure of the budget process lies 100% with the GOP representatives and leadership in Congress. The president’s only roles, with respect to the budget are:
1) Propose a budget to Congress
2) Sign or veto the final appropriations approved by Congress.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to appropriate all funds spent by the government and the power to tax in order to fund the government. Obama can be blamed for many things but the failure of the budget process since the Republicans took over the House in January 2011, as well as the escalating budget deficits, belongs to the GOP Congress.

The president cannot spend a dime without the money being approved by Congress.
