Anyone with half a brain understands that Islam and its adherents are evil.
Any person, organization or nation that is anti-Islam - has my blessing!
Does he? Buckley's world was the Cold War world.
He probably would have gone with a candidate he judged most favorable to the US and free enterprise, the candidate who kept the West together against the Soviets.
That wouldn't necessarily be the most nationalistic and protectionist French candidate.
When the Cold War ended, Buckley lost his bearings, as did the magazine.

Iranian Muslims/Persian's (They make it very clear they are not arabs), who came here after the over throw of the Shah, are very patriotic and pro-Trump. They understand a government so powerful they can absolutely control your life and want none of it. They left their country to avoid it.
Those who came in later are another story completely. I've yet to meet an Egyptian muslim I can even stomach.
