DNA tests of the carcass of a crocodile shot in Zimbabwe confirm that the reptile had eaten a missing South African hunter.
Scott Van Zyl, 44, vanished last week after going on a hunting safari on the banks of the Limpopo river with a Zimbabwean tracker and a pack of dogs.
The married father-of-two, whose company runs hunting trips for foreign clients, was believed he had been eaten by crocodiles and recent tests confirm it.

They probably just decompose rapidly. The heat and humidity would expedite that. And there are lots of scavengers to feast on dead matter. African ecology is one of fierce competition for food and other resources. Even the plants there fight it out for nutrients and water.
Never hunt anything that can hunt you.
It happens every day. Fortunately our kill ratio is much better than the enemy.
A weird, but common practice of Professional Hunters in Africa is to not chamber a round until just before shooting.
I didn’t know that and it’s nor surprising.
There are many YouTube videos of crocks grabbing their prey.
The good news is that a round was in the chamber. The bad news is he left his rifle in the truck.

I never saw a PH wait to chamber a round while hunting, they chambered one when leaving the truck, just like we did.
