A pair of Russian nuclear-capable bombers flew near Alaska Monday night, two U.S. officials told Fox News, coming as close as 100 miles from Kodiak Island -- the first time since President Trump took office that Moscow has sent bombers so close to the U.S.
The two Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers flew roughly 280 miles southwest of Elmendorf Air Force Base, within the Air Defense Identification Zone of the United States.
The U.S. Air Force scrambled two F-22 stealth fighter jets and an E-3 airborne early warning plane to intercept the Russian bombers.

F-22's might be overkill, but it does the US a chance to do training with F-22's in real situations...
My opinion: Putin acting like an @$$h0l3 [I replaced the letters a,s,o, and e with special characters...]
Happens on a fairly regular basis.
Putin is out of his mind. I think he’s got that ‘little man’ complex, just like his buddy, Kim Jung Un.
It’s OK. A couple more of those beefcake shirtless pics & I’m sure his USA fan club will quickly forgive him.
All Russians planes are nuclear capable
The first Tupolev Tu-95 Bears were intercepted near Alaska by North American F-86 Sabre Jets in 1956.
Bears have been greeted a long line of American fighter jets.
Alaska Ping
Bombers flew 100 miles away from Kodiak island. Yeah, that’s a massive provocation. We do the same right up to the 12 mile limit.
Send up a Warthog and have him bump into the Bear.....
Warthog is a flying tank and can survive the contact.
all Russian planes are flying tanks. such an idiot move would be unwise.

Russian aircraft designs often look clumsy or exaggerated, but that old bomber is beautiful. Great proportions.
Correct. We do the same and worse over there. Why is this being reported in such an irresponsible manner?
Seriously, why? Someone wants us in a big war. Who? I've never been a conspiracy nut. But I'm willing to learn.
Maybe Sarah Palin really should have said, “I can see Russia from my house!”
Wow, that’s some heavy duty looking stuff right there. Way out of scale for the plane. What, did they land these in the rough with ad hoc landing strips frequently or something?
Most Soviet designs require the ability to land on unprepared surfaces. Just in case the runways are taken out. The MiG-29 has intake vents on the top of the fuselage for the same reason.
Some more than others: :)
