The Today Show is quickly becoming the must-watch show for anyone who wants to know secrets about the Bush family.
Now that Jenna Bush Hager works for the NBC program, viewers can tune in to learn how she procured liquor while underage, among other things. Sure, it was her dad George W. Bush who revealed that one while sitting for an interview with her, but Bush Hager can reveal family trivia just fine on her own.
Today, for instance, she and Kathie Lee Gifford chatted about whether it’s healthy to go barefoot and rude to ask people to remove shoes before coming into your home. That’s standard morning talk show fare. Nothing to see here, right?
Sort of, if what you’re trying to see are former First Lady Barbara Bush‘s second toes, actually.
“My grandma’s missing a toe on each foot,” blurted out the young Bush. She kept going as Gifford looked shocked, saying it happened with age.
Gifford asked if that had ever been made public knowledge before and Bush said no. The two laughed about it all pretty hard, but Bush did say she was sorry to blow up her grandma’s spot like that, admitting she felt “terrible.”
Years and years ago, Barbara wrote in her book about this, so it was no great secret. At the time, I thought it was a little odd and discussed this with several people.
