Because we’re already there.

The US has been bombing and drone attacking Syria for years.

One line of defense already put out there is, whether one believes it or not, that the Syrian Government had chemical weapons of which they agreed to give up on Russia’s word from a few years ago. Those chemical weapons constituted a threat to everyone in the region including our troops, hence, it was a threat to our national security according to this theory.

To protect and defend the Constitution you have to protect the country against physical attack. The depth and breadth of strategic planning for this is immense and complex, as you probably realize.

Rogue nations and troublemakers now take us seriously. This is a direct result of the strikes yesterday. And it’s part of the strategic planning for the protection of our country.

Explain to me why this act of war without any input from Congress is consistent with our Founding Documents and our Constitution?

No troops.
No continuing actions.
No pilots in danger.

It was covered under the Freedom of Speech Amendment.

Trump said, "Knock off the poison gas!"

There are too many existing laws in place to mention here that gave president Trump the authority to do what he did.

it was consistent bc God meant for America to be the hope of the Earth, the city on the hill, the rape of evil. Hence, we must lead.

Here is the full transcript of Trump's remarks:

My fellow Americans, on Tuesday, Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians.

Using a deadly nerve agent, Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children.

It was a slow and brutal death for so many -- even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack.

No child of God should ever suffer such horror.

Tonight I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched.

It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.

There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the chemical weapons convention and ignored the urging of the U.N. Security Council.

Years of previous attempts at changing Assad's behavior have all failed and failed very dramatically.

As a result the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies.

Tonight, I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types.

We ask for God's wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled world. We pray for the lives of the wounded and for the souls of those who have passed. And we hope that as long as America stands for justice, then peace and harmony will -- in the end -- prevail.

Goodnight, and God Bless America and the entire world.

Bold is mine to highlight the American interests

At least W did it nice and legally.

The Enemamedia didn't leak a drop as Jug Ears and Cackles rolled over Africa into Syria.

I suppose this is what it looks and feels like to live in a banana republic with a media that actually reports occasionally.

I come at this from a whole different perspective. And that is that no matter what you do for or to a muslim, at the end of the day, you are still the infidel and the muslim will still hate you. So, for me, I need to see a clear picture of it being in our national interest before we start spending money or blood.

Go do some research for yourself and stop being a drama queen looking for more attention. There’s an abundance of reference materials out there explaining why what Trump did was perfectly legal. Stop beating a dead horse with this. 2 days of your whining and complaining is getting old.

Turmoil in Syria has allowed ISIS to flourish there. ISIS has declared war on us. We retaliated.

The Constitution says that Congress shall have the power to declare war. There is no mention of any OBLIGATION to issue declarations of war.

In 1789, only offensive wars were declared.

Today, offensive war is prohibited by international law.

Thus, the power to declare war is obsolete.

In other words, the periodic caterwauling from “constitutionalists” about the “Constitutional requirement” of declarations of war is absolutely pointless, in addition to NOT being based in the words of the Constitution.

Hardly. No worse that backhanding a bully...assuming the bully was not behaving.

I like that Assad and Russia is out to defeat islams worst, but if it was political, I don’t care because there is no islam trash worth caring about.

Don’t follow the evil if you are a good person. islam is pure evil.

To: P-Marlowe; All

So for you and all of the Anti-Trumpers on here complaining about everything, were you upset when Reagan invaded Grenada without a declaration of war? Were you upset when Reagan retaliated for the Marine Barracks bombing in Lebanaon without a Declaration of War? Were you upset when Reagan bombed Libya in retailation for the West German discotheque bombing without a declaration of war? We all know Reagan could do no wrong from many of your viewpoints, but i dont remember Reagan getting Congressional approval for any of these acts.

The common thread is that they were in retailaition for loss of American life OR protection of American lives. Same as Trump’s reasoning for last night. So, many of you are either incredibly lazy in not doing your research, ill informed of past history, or hypocritical in bashing President Trump for doinf the same things your prior hero did. Newsflash, President Trump,is far more conservative than President Reagan and as of yet, has not raised taxes, signed amnesty, or been involved in an arms for hostages deal. The Drama Queens are out of control since last night around here.

Your entire comments are without merit.

Funny thing, did you have such a visceral reaction when Obama used force in Syria??
