Beer slug. Glad they tracked down my brother in law.

“likes to hide and rarely comes out before 10pm” clinched it for me.

Do they fry ‘em up crispy, or sautee ‘em like the frogs do with snails?

I wonder where it’s been all these years?
Or were they just looking for slugs in all the wrong places?................

The creature, also known as cellar slug in English, was last seen in 1935 in the harbour city, according to the University of Hamburg. Since then, the beer slug had been placed on Hamburg’s “red list” of endangered species and classified as either extinct or lost.

So it's a slug that is commonly found, to this day, in the UK but since it's not often seen in Hamburg it is now classified as extinct or endangered? What, every creature in the world needs to be found everywhere in the world or it's a crisis?

I’ve been known to impersonate a beer slug on occasion.
