The grandfather of one of three suspects killed during the alleged March 27 home invasion in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, says the use of an AR-15 against the suspects was unfair.
According to Tulsa World, Wagoner County Sheriffs deputy Nick Mahoney said the three suspects were wearing all-black clothing, masks, and gloves and allegedly forced their way into the home through a glass door in the back. The homeowners son was asleep at the time and awoke to loud bangs as the suspects made entrance. The son grabbed the AR-15 and opened fire when the intruders walked into the hallway.
Deputy Mahoney said investigators found a knife on one of the deceased in the kitchen and brass knuckles on the other.
ABC 8 reports that Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of deceased 17-year-old suspect Jacob Redfearn, says what the boys did was stupid but they did not deserve to die. He added, Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life.
He said the use of the AR-15 meant his grandson didnt have a chance. He said, Theres got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that.

It was fair and it was more than just stupid what they did. They crossed the line.
Why would it have to be “fair”? This isn’t a cage fighting match for prize money. Three against one? They wouldn’t even need weapons for those odds to be lethal. He had an unusual advantage with the weapon he had...so he lived. How is that unfair? Home intruders have “rights” to a fair fight?
Dad believes his son should have had an even chance to kill the guy whose house he broke into?
I guess gramps thinks it would’ve been fair to shoot them with a nerfgun and be beaten to death.
Can't make this crap up. As fiction it would be rejected by every publisher as too preposterous. Armed intruder break into your house and you're supposed to check that the odds aren't stacked in your favor before you protect your life. Uh huh, sure. I'll buy that.
At least grandpa can rest easy knowing that his grandson won’t make the same mistake twice.
No, it meant that the resident of the house that your grandson invaded DID have a chance. Your grandson had a chance to refuse to participate in the crime, but that chance ended when he went through the door.
The guy should get a medal. He saved the taxpayers the cost of three prison cots.
Stupid comment but I still feel badly for the guy who lost his grandson. But it was the kid’s choice to do what he did. Who knows whether they might have killed an innocent victim.
Grandpa should be sent a bill by law enforcement and the homeowner.
Sometime, in the not too distant future ....
Homeowner: Excuse me, but I could’nt help but notice that you and your well dressed freinds have entered my residence.
Perps: yeah.
Homeowner: Are you armed?
Perps: Of course.
Homeowner: Well then, please fill out this form detailing the number, type and ammunition quantities (if any) of the arms you are bearing.
Perps: Oh, right. Here.
Homeowner: Thank You. We all want a level plaing field. I will now go a select my weaponry based on yours. Please have a cup of tea while waiting. This won’t take long.
PAUSE
Homeowner: So, here are my choices. Do these seem fair to you?
Perps: Great tea! And yes those seem okay to us, right boys!
.....
No one is going to want their grandson dead.
But if I had a grandson and he did what those idiots did, I’d at least know he deserved to be shot dead. This grandpa thinks it’s ok to have little grandson get into the scary black gear and invade someone’s home, and live? That is “fair” to him? Sorry, Gramps.

Proof that “Stupidity kills”.
What the hell were they thinking and why weren’t they home asleep? Where were their parents?
You know what is unfair, is not being allowed to live in your house in peace.
Grampa has his opinions, for up close in home defence i like short barreled 12 gauge. Slugs and 00 buck in 3 inch magnums. That seems fair to me.
Hahaha. Yep. Unfair. That is why we law biding citizens use firearms to defend our property and our lives. Some thug br3aks in to my house it will indeed be an unfair situation for said thug.
2 of them should have been shot based on their hairstyles alone.
Has anyone read the perfunctory “no charges are being pressed?”
I would have liked to see that.
I don’t know if there’s ANY wiggle room to charge this kid.
What a complete chutzpah! Your dear grandson breaks into another person’s home, dressed in suspicious looking black clothing and armed, and you expect the homeowner, whose domain was most definitely violated, to shake his finger at the intruder? Or, in this case, THREE intruders? You’re lucky they just shot him dead and didn’t cremate the remains on the front lawn as a lesson.
