IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they’ve uncovered a massive international sex trafficking ring in Southern California.
Prosecutors announced the arrest of four people connected to the Orange County-based enterprise that allegedly placed thousands of ads for sexual services in 29 states over the past two years.
The ring was based locally in Irvine, officials said.
Women and girls from China were forced to sell themselves for sex and sometimes forced to work 14 hours a day in homes purchased specifically for the purposes of prostitution, according to authorities.
Investigators tracked the ring through thousands of ads selling sex on Backpage.com.
“There’s a townhouse in Cottage Grove [Minnesota], that was bought and paid for with cash. And when police entered, they saw two beds. That’s it. But they also saw a line of guys waiting on a couch, waiting for their turn,” said Pete Orput, an attorney with Washington County.

It is beyond me why a man would want to have sex with a prostitute. Especially with as skanky as most prostitutes are.

We have to get in the Singapore mind set.
Yes, it may START with 2 years hard labor for littering BUT strict enforcement of seemingly archaic laws - like cutting off ones hands for stealing, tallywacker for sex crimes, death for drugs, sort of cuts down on repeat offenders.
It doesn’t take long for people to get the word that it is not a very good idea to try and smuggle drugs into certain countries because that may be the LAST thing you do.
Then again, the ones that are upset when ‘interlopers’ break our laws are among the first when to raise hell when an American or Westerner gets sentenced to death for smuggling drugs.
‘We’ don’t want them disregarding our customs but when they enforce their laws it is a different matter.
You know the mindset, in their mind/opinion, it is perfectly normal to kill an unborn but a person who rapes/tortures/murders several people deserve a ‘2nd or 3rd etc chance’.
Then again ‘we’ are just as bad, ‘we’ demand abortions stop but on the other hand want to cut off the welfare of those that don’t have abortions. (Note, I am just pointing out the difference of thought process)
Most of these women are slaves, generally lured with a promise of a legitimate job. Each act of prostitution is a rape.
Why would a guy want to have sex with a woman who has been with at least 25 other guys that day? What is the turn on?

Last month some Mexican singer’s son was arrested for trafficking them across the border. It’s anyone’s guess how they got into Mexico in the first place.

It isn’t like they are going to have sex for free, and absolutely not with someone ten ir sixty years younger than they are.
Old Pornifornia just ain’t what it used to be. Irvine used to be quite conservative. From what I’ve heard this past year; not so much anymore. The liberals idea of improved morality was to make porn stars wear a condom. All that did was force some of them to film out of state thus depriving the local town and state of some taxes and permit money. Freakin’ leftists make rocks look intelligent.
Such a beautiful state geographically and this subject comes up a lot here on FR. So many of us wish there was some way to keep the Titanic called California from sliding into the moral abyss but it just keeps sinking no matter what. I’m kind of reminded of what happened to the Romans when their lack of morality was finally their undoing.

No, the city is not the center of the porn industry. I live here and they won’t even allow porn magazines to be sold in the city.
What happens is the pimps will rent or lease upscale apartments and homes and hope to stay under the radar because of its large Asian population. Once they are caught they move on to another city like Lake Forest or Costa Mesa, then move back to Irvine. Happens every few years.
This story is recycled every five years.
