California man who refused to remove blog posts outing FBI informants arrested (OREGON STANDOFF)

Federal authorities have arrested California resident Gary Hunt after he failed to show up in U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown's courtroom this month to explain why he shouldn't be held in civil contempt for not removing his blog information about informants the FBI used...

The judge, in an order unsealed after Hunt's arrest, wrote that it was "necessary to issue a warrant for Hunt's arrest in order to bring him before this Court for his failure to appear at a show-cause hearing and to adjudicate civil contempt hearings" as to the government's allegations that he violated a court' protective order.

The presence of nine informants on the eastern Oregon refuge during the 41-day occupation last winter as well as six other informants who worked on the case for the FBI was revealed during testimony during the first trial of occupation leaders.

Hunt, according to prosecutors, apparently got hold of FBI reports on the confidential informants that prosecutors gave to defense attorneys as part of their sharing of discovery evidence before trial.....

Hunt... argued that the court's protective order didn't apply to him since he was never one of the defendants in the federal conspiracy case. He also argued that since his blog has been shared by others, it would be nearly impossible to remove all the material he's posted...

Hunt also contends that since the federal government identified one of the informants during the first trial, Mark McConnell, any privilege of confidentiality masking the other informants' names is lost.

"There was no objection when the government exposed Mark McConnell. There was no objection when Terri Linnell exposed her role as an informant. There was no objection when the diligence of the defense exposed Fabio Minoggio," Hunt wrote in one of his online articles......

The overreach in the Oregon Standoff with the judge rigging the second trial not allowing a jury for the misdemeanor charges, preventing numerous witnesses from appearing for the defense and going after the blogger exercising his First Amendment right.

The prosecutors are still doing their dirty work with Jeff Sessions as the Attorney General. The Acting US Attorney in Oregon, appointed by the Obama Administration in December 2015 remains in place.

Billy Williams has not been removed or replaced.

Ammon Bundy, LaVoy Finicum and the others came to Oregon in January 2016 to protest the mandatory terrorism sentences for ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond. They were convicted and sent back to prison for a second time to serve out a five year sentence for lighting a backfire to protect their land.

When will the Trump Administration act to free these men and shut down the prosecution and persecution of people in Oregon and Nevada over the protests?

I gladly voted for Donald Trump in the primaries last year and the general election after realizing the "Conservative Movement" that shunned the protestors in Oregon (like Glenn Beck) was in league with Republican Establishment machine against Trump.

I hope Donald Trump will do something good here, I really do.

Appears to me, the informants outnumbered the ones protesting, who were we might add exonerated in the first trial of four, was it? This informant business on the part of the FBI is a bit over the top IMHO. Especially the total number. Did they get the same story from all informants, and with informants information, how is it, at the first trial all of the accused were found NOT GUILTY? So many questions, so few answers especially the murder of Lavoy.

If FBI informants are shown to be the ones instigating conflict and promoting criminal acts, then the government’s case should be entirely thrown out by any just jury.

When the question of which individuals were working for the government can have this much impact on the outcome of a question, this is need-to-know for the public.

Weird how a regular dude gets this treatment while NYT outs national security whistleblowers and nobody blinks an eye.

Why?

Because of the right to confront witnesses. That whole 6th amendment thing.
