Apple Dials Up Encryption as Mobile Threats Soar . . . but it's mostly in all the other mobile devices other than Apple including Android, Windows, and IoT.
"The vast majority of infections (85%) discovered in mobile networks belonged to smartphones, with Android (81%) the main culprit, followed by Windows/PCs (15%) and 4% linked to iPhones and other mobile devices.
As stated, far less than 4% impacted Apple devices and then mostly only through Safari ransom and scareware attacks hijacking webpages through misbehaving ads. Apple has responded by replacing the file system on iOS and later this year on the Mac with APFS. PING! Pinging dayglored, ThunderSleeps, and ShadowAce for their interests due to mobile device infection rate news.

Thanks for the ping, Swordmaker. I'm thinking I may start up a related but non-Apple-headlined thread for the Windows users who are doing their 15% share of the infections. :-)
No need to draw fire to Apple -- this is an issue that crosses all platforms. Glad to see Apple continues to tighten things up.
