In some states they can apply for a work permit. Oh they can only work like 15 hours a week but yes they can hold after school jobs. Know my brothers did. Can 15 year olds do this in your state?

I see the article says the authorities now believe that Thomas was a willing participant.
You have to wonder what she was missing at home that made her consider this.

when my kids were young they had to be 16 to work...the late 80s early 90s..
I don’t know how it is now...

...by writing draft emails on a shared classroom computer...
I understand terrorists communicate with each other this way. With Gmail, you don’t even need to be using the same computer. Heck, you can use your cell phone to “talk to each other” by continuing to update the draft email.

I started working at 14, no work permit required, c. 1973; first job was working Bingo at the parish school, parking cars, flipping the little light board, handing the numbered balls to the caller, setting up and breaking down the gym on Saturdays...paid $40 a month, we thought that was great. Man, those were the days.

Mom appears to be a few beers shy of a six-pack.
News 2 also learned that Thomas mother, Kimberly Thomas, hasnt had contact with her five minor children in over a year. There are 10 children in all, but five of the children are adults.
In January of 2016, Mrs. Thomas was charged with four counts of child abuse and neglect. A family friend we spoke to denied the allegations tied to the charges were true.

My daughter started work at 14 in a “farmer’s market” store. Young people are allowed to work in agriculture in some jurisdictions.
