The other days I got the munchies for peanut butter so I put some on bread and enjoyed it. I also like peanut butter in ice cream as well as cookies. Also I like peanut butter shakes. Okay, by now you guessed it...I like peanut butter. And I'm sure most of you do too.
So my big question is why does most of the rest of the world HATE peanut butter while it is very popular with North Americans (Americans and Canadians)? I read that peanut butter is so hated by most of the rest of the world that once some aid organization sent crackers and peanut butter to some starving nation and the folks rejected it.
There has to be a reason why North Americans love peanut butter while most of the rest of the world hates the stuff.
Something to do with Jimmah Carta?
Maybe his peanut farming ways offended the world.
I love it!
Have you had the pleasure?
I question your premise. What makes you think the rest of the world doesn’t like peanut butter?
Communism.
Because they have hazelnuts, which are superior in every possible way. I’ll take pretty much any nut butter that isn’t peanut, cashew is my favorite. Peanut butter is OK but there are so many superior options, like all of them.
There was a song about this:
If you like peanut butter, and getting caught in the rain
"Have you ever seen a Commie eat a peanut butter sandwich?"
I love peanut butter. It’s delicious on ritz crackers or celery.
First of all, peanut butter (or at least a kind of peanut butter) is important in Thai cooking. And peanuts are used in Chinese cookery.
Personally, I think the ludicrous dislike of peanut butter in Europe is based on dim-witted anti-Americanism. Ew! It’s so sweet! And it has this DISGUSTING texture1 I read it all day long on the British food blogs & newspapers. As if Nutella wasn’t sweet which everyone gobbles down like hogs. But more and more some British cooks are admitting to liking it - just as they are now admitting they like Oreos on occasion.
What is much worse than peanut butter is fermented soybean butter, aka natto. There are only two problems here: natto is 1000 times better for you than peanut butter (regular eating essentially ensures you will never have a stroke), and I really like peanut butter, especially when it is in its pristine state, not jarred and gummed up with corn syrup and palm oil.
I love it.
It looks like poo.
(No, that’s not why I like it)
I’m guessing that is the answer to the question.
Finally, I know that if somebody gave me a jar of Chinese peanut butter, I would not eat it.
peanut butter rules! Forget about the rest of the world. Lol Salute the flag and eat more peanut butter!
Just had sone on sourdough with honey. Yum, but I’ll bet there was more than a thousand fungal spores on it.
:) I hate Jimmy Buffett.
I don’t think the British have any room to talk about bad food.
It plays havoc in a wok
