A woman who had In Vitro Fertilization done and conceived four babies had a “selective reduction” where one baby was aborted. A pro-choice therapist asked her some questions:
“Did you feel like you got enough emotional support during the pregnancy reduction?”
“No, not really. Mostly because the people we talked to mainly were doctors and medical people and they were all coming from the point of view that it was dangerous medically to carry that many babies….but because that was the only side I was getting, I wished later that I’d known I had more of a choice to keep all four…I felt like there was a whole emotional piece missing….and also no one ever said we could consider keeping all four and I think now, why wasn’t that an option?…I’m not blaming anyone; I just wish I’d had another point of view to consider.”
The therapist then asked:
“And did you – I know this might be a difficult question to answer – but how did you decide which one to reduce? Did you leave it up to the doctor?”
“Yes. They really just…picked the smallest baby,” she said, her voice choking, beginning to cry. “I’m really feeling the loss now, because…that little one…just because it was little, you know…lost its life.”

Other women who have undergone selective reduction say they regret aborting one baby every time they look at the surviving babies.. They will always wonder what the other baby would’ve been like.
Selective reduction is usually done by injecting poison into the heart of the baby being aborted, killing him or her. When the woman goes to term, she gives birth to her living babies as well as the dead one.
Selective reduction is often done in cases of in vitro fertilization when multiple embryos are placed inside the woman. Because many embryos from IVF fail to implant, doctors often place multiple embryos in the womb to increase the odds of a viable pregnancy. Sometimes this leads to more than the desired number of children growing in the womb. Specialists then pressure women to abort one or more babies to increase the chances that the others survive to term. In reality, if there are three babies, selective reduction to one only increases the odds of a healthy birth slightly.

Selective reduction is also done on request when a woman is pregnant with twins or triplets but wants only one baby.

Everyone remember "Octomom" Nadya Suleman? When she had IVF there were 12 implanted and only 8 survived. She refused “selective reduction” and brought all 8 to term. Yes she was reckless, as in out of wedlock but she proved it could be done. She had the strong will to make it happen. Plus I suspect she is one of those women who just love being pregnant.
Rips my heart out to read this. Although I understand this woman may have felt pressured by doctors ultimately as a mother it was up to her to say enough. And keep her baby.

Used to be a time when there were family doctors who did have the time and character to really care for his patients. Not today. It’s very rare to find one with either time or the character to do the right thing.
Of course, I’m thinking back to the time when our family doc made house calls.
“Selective Reduction”. The abortionists really picked a pleasant benign sounding term for MURDER.
I lived in California during the Octomom story. I don’t believe this woman had a strong will, I believe she was in it for the money. She was unmarried and had 12 embryos implanted? She expected to become rich for her efforts. I am strongly pro-life, but Octomom wasn’t a paragon of virtue, to be held up as an example of a good person. I haven’t heard much about her lately. I wonder if she is still living off the taxpayers of California. I also have a vague recollection of her doctor being charged with some type of malfeasance for the implantations.
How about the McCaughey family. She had 7 babies and they’re now 18 or 19. She was advised to consider selective aborting and would hear none of it. They all seem to be doing well, based on media reports.
What’s even worse is when the father pressures a woman to abort her baby.
This happened to my sister. Her boyfriend (now husband) insisted.
She lost a little girl...Then had a miscarriage, gave birth to two sons...And then her youngest died of cancer at nine.
She could have had a bigger family, happier family. Using abortion as birth control is just wrong.
I knew she wanted a baby and I begged her not to do it. But she just had too much pressure.
Although getting pressured by a doctor must be very difficult to resist as well.
The left is good at that, aren’t they? Rephrasing the language to make it seem like things they approve of are no big deal.

...............in our sick society today, when a woman shed’s a few tears and “regrets” that makes whatever act she did ok. The truth is that the baby lost it’s life out of convenience for her mom AND possibly a father in the background.

Of course, the worse case of all is when the mother of the baby kills the baby over the objections of the father of the baby.

The father should have a say. I totally agree.
It’s not an “equal rights” question. Neither mom nor dad has a “right” to have a baby destroyed.
Both mom and dad have a “responsibility” to nurture, protect, and provide for each and every child they beget/bring into existence.
The child’s the one with the rights. The parents are the ones with the responsibilities.

Both parents have a right to protect their daughters and sons from being harmed.
That right needs to be enshrined in law. Mothers have a natural right to protect their children from being killed between conception and birth, and that right is protected by law. Fathers have a natural right to protect their children from being killed between conception and birth, and that right needs to be protected by law too.
I’m agreeing with you. Both parents have a right (or rather, a duty) to protect their daughters and sons from being harmed. Looks like we both think that neither of them have a right to abort their child.
