Why do we need these God awful HMOs?
I love it!! We have gotten so screwed up trying to feed the parasite that they are killing the Host.who talked Trump into this god awful replacement of communist insurance premium purchase with more of the same??WTH??
Good for you for thinking out of the box! Look around the world, some countries have taken Insurance companies out of the equation completely, as they lead to corruption. They do not allow direct competition between clinics and hospitals. So you get AAA plus care from US trained doctors at a fraction of the price.
This is now headlines across the US..... SARC/
Maybe the media and corporations don’t want you to know this............
There is no reason why an enterprising group of people couldn’t come up with a concept like this and do a pilot study on a limited basis in one state just to see how well it works. Kentucky would be a perfect state for this, what with Rand Paul’s prominent role in health care in the U.S. Senate.
HMO’s in their infantcy were not what they have been forced into today. Doctors were the HMO years ago and offered them to patients to keep them coming to them exclusively.
But when the lawyers got into the game and changed the play with lawsuits to physicians that far exceeded the acts, they forced new medical students to spend more time in learning so they could CYA themselves better, the price for healthcare went up. I personally know one surgeon that has to spend over $90 thousand a year on malpractice insurance. If he expects to cover his college loans and this bill along with his licensing fees, and pay his office staff, the customer has to pay.
So what started out as an incentive for patients, had to be turned into a business. Tack that on to the government discovering the areas of what they need to control to force the voters to their knees, education, transportation, and medical care, they added their “dime” to the mix through the numerous medical organizations they control financially and it all ended up in astronomical bills for the consumer. And the insurance companies are caught in the middle. So guess who is expected to pay the bills?

No its not workable long term. Also your not eliminating the back office costs that currently up prices 60-70%. If you strip a way everything leaving insurance for just, if you will a major car crash, (analogy) with the balance of care paid out of pocket, HSA pre-tax $, funded by Fica/SS taxes, with medicare/caid funding of the HSA and catastrophic policy, you also begin to reform entitlements pulling the $ collected By DC and locking them to the individual.
Step 1
pass the ryan care bill with 3 amendment, re-allow catastrophic health insurance policies, cap the tax deductibility of corporate paid health insurance while making individual health care spending 100% pretax and mandate cash cost for all health test procedures and medication be posted conspicuously.
The privatization of entitlements.
There’s no shortage of insurance plans available in a free market setting. The problem I have with Obamacare, at this point anyway, is that if one segment of the society is receiving government assistance that all don’t receive then that is socialist and unconstitutional under the equal protection clause.
I’m pretty sure if my homeowner’s insurance guy offered me $1 per $100 for fire damage, I’d fire him, or have a bigger fire.
But math isn’t my best subject, so, if I break my leg and my hospital bill is $74K for a 2 day stay plus surgery, what’s my share of cost under this plan? 10K + $400? Or, if I get a biopsy and my bill is $9,750, do I pay $9750 - $97.50 plus $400 plus 10% ?
Because Ted Kennedy decided to bless us with them.
The Kennedy clan has done a great deal of harm to America. May they be rewarded according to their works.
“After 400 dollars the insurance would start covering 10% and increase by 1% for each 100 dollars up to the 100% till you reach your maximum.”
10% of what? Anything that the doctor charges you for?
There is a reason insurance companies employ claims adjusters.
I need a “no-frills” $5000. (or more) deductible HSA type policy that doesn’t pay for anything under $5K. Any “insurance sales” type Freepers know if they are still available without the Obamacare mandates (”free” annuals, “free” mammograms, “free” birth control, “free” pregnancy coverage, etc., etc.)? Thanks in advance.
Any state can and should facilitate this type of thing.
The FEDS cannot do any of it legally. It is not an enumerated power of the federal government so is illegal under the tenth amendment for it to get involved in that. Therefore REPEAL Obamacare totally.
Look up things I have recently poster for other similar suggestions. Predictable virtually universal expenses should be born by each individual — they need not be insured with multiple strings attached. If some people need help from the government then STATES can address that issue.
For every Fed program cut, taxes should be cut by that amount precisely with an admonition attached to the tax that the program can be continue by the people of the respective states if they really want. Meals on Wheels and School Lunches come to mind as issues that will be moaned and griped about. Make sure there are tax cuts from all the tax sources that support any programs cut and that that is ADVERTISED as now available to We the People of the several states if we care to divert those newly available dollars to a state version of the old Fed program.
