One of the great rock drummers...
Hangin on the telephone!!!!
Picture this!!!1
Call me!!!
Loved Blondie :)
If it weren’t or your job at the garage if you could only picture this... :)!!!!!
Blondie was one of the first ‘white gals’ singing rap.
This was heard on her hit ‘Rapture’, back in 1981.
Done her way, Rap was fun, melodious and satisfying as a piece of performance art, the way jazz singers used Scat. I always liked hearing the Warning Bells in the intro.
Madonna had much bigger money behind her from the very beginning, better sound production and songwriting, better choreographed dancers, back up singers, far better promotion. So it was Madonna who became Rock Royalty at that time. As Tina Turner might have said ‘What’s talent, got to do, got to do with it?”
Gonna try an see them on tour this summer.
Parallel Lines is a classic album of its time. They were at their best and Debbie Harry was a good front lady for Chris Stein and co.
HONESTLY I listen to these songs by her at least once a month.
I was maybe 8? when they came out. I’m 48.
Would listen for hours :)
You brought back great memories.
If you have a ping list, include me.
Get me on that list, “one way or another’ :)
Ever a Knack songs fan from their one big album?
Probably the first cross over punk album.
Big fan here of their sound. There’s a special on them on AXS channel that all reading this thread should see.
Basically, they had a visionary producer who had a penchant for innovation and quality.
I hear disco, punk and rap. But also, Blondie was a template for the EDM industry. Lay down a beat, a riff and a lone female crooner. Excellent stuff.
Madonna's first album in 83' titled "Madonna" was quite innovative, some of the earliest American tech pop to actually chart. At the time, tech pop was mostly European and Brit.
First album had 'Holiday', 'Lucky Star', and 'Borderline' with very catchy rifs. They almost named the first album 'Lucky Star', but they thought Madonna could be a star.
Problem was it got out of hand in the mid eighties and Madge has been nightmare fuel for 30 years now.
Funny....I have been listening to Blondie the last few weeks for the first time in forever. Greatly underrated band. In a weird happenstance she was almost murdered by Ted Bundy one evening. In the “six degrees of separation” thing; one of my ex-GF’s had a quick & sloppy affair with Harry back in the day.
One of my favorite songs.
The band live at their peak, from the December Heart of Glass thread. Worthwhile.
