Rats got in our attic for the 2nd time. First time pest guy used bait and killed them then closed up the attic. Boom! Done. This time he’s been using something close to warfarin. Makes them bleed out. Has taken a month now and I’m still hearing rats. Shaking my head.

Sheana, get a couple of cats and put them up there in your attic. (be sure no poison is left around)

Problem over!!

Seriously, cats will get rid of your rats. We have a big black tom cat who keeps our place rat-free. Only problem; 'Tommy' often will bring me a dead rat as a 'gift'. (neither he or any of our cats will eat them)

Once when he had been 'missing' for awhile, I heard him 'meow' outside the front door. I was so happy he'd returned home that I picked him up and hugged him- and felt something wet and cold against my cheek. I took him toward the light and in his mouth was a big, dead rat! I had inadvertently hugged a RAT! I almost freaked out!!

Bless his little heart, he thought he'd brought me a real gift.

Beautiful, sweet cat though. (see him in my bio)

I've read that cats are just hard-wired to kill rats/mice, and they will often bring 'the kill' home as a gift for his master or to show what a mighty hunter he is. :)
