Greeting the UConn students on their Storrs campus Monday morning was a message spray-painted on the school's spirit rock that reads: "Frat Lives Matter."
"I think it's too soon," said student Dez Williams.
Late last week, six kappa sigma fraternity brothers were arrested in relation to the death of a 19-year-old student. In October, Jeffny Pally died after being run over by a campus fire SUV. Police said Pally had an alcohol level more than three times the legal limit and had been sitting against the fire dept garage doors when they opened for the vehicle.
Authorities said Pally had been drinking at the off-campus kappa sigma house. Those six frat brothers now face several charges, including permitting a minor to illegally possess alcohol.
"I think it was insensitive," said Williams.
The UConn Interfraternity Council released a statement on their Instagram account, saying in part:
"The wildly inappropriate and insensitive messages of 'frat lives matter'painted on rocks throughout our campus this morning do not in any way reflect the values or beliefs of the UConn Interfraternity Council or any of our 12 recognized member fraternities."
"We want to see positive things coming out of UConn especially in greek life," said Anu Dwarki.

Cute.
I live down the road from this place and the morning of the report about her death I said to a neighbor,” I bet she was drunk at a Frat party just down the road from the fire Dpt. and someone put her there or she walked(stumbled) there”
These privileged college jerks don’t realize actions have consequences. They had been plying girls with booze for so many years it didn’t dawn on them one day it would catch up to them. Now it has.
Granted this girl was responsible for her own actions but they were the last ones to associate with her and proven to give her booze even though they say she was trashed when she got to there place.
Parents are suing the State and Fire Dpt driver.Good luck with that.
Parents need to accept the daughter had a life that they were not aware of.
Sad all around
Almost certain a hoax, since fraternity members are taught universally to avoid the term ‘frat.’
Suing the fireman? I hate lawyers.
I’m not that good looking (I’m an old guy), but I was luckier than her - could have easily ended up like her in my youth. So sad.
My brother left a bar in his MG - pulled forward and ran over a kid that had passed out right in front of his car. It was just some bruises, but the kid tried to sue. My brother had a college buddy that was studying law and he defended my brother and got him off. My brother was so proud that my parents never did find out! (I imagine my brother had been drinking as well).
I should have died at 14 when I drank nearly an entire 1/5th of Scotch by myself in less than an hour. Had my dad not come down to my room to see if I had returned yet, I would have died. But it took probably another 20 years before I realized I was not one who could drink. Been sober for over 30 years now, and it was never really a struggle to walk away from it either.
I know who she is. Her name was plastered all over the papers here for weeks
You even knew she was a she, and not a he as at first glance her name looks like Jeffery. I posted it to you for no other reason than that. I wasn’t posting it so you would know her name.
There was never any confusion as to her name or gender in this neck of the woods.
As I said the story was plastered all over the place from day 1.
Media did their best to make her out to be a victim of an irresponsible emergency vehicle operator.
By the way the fire call they were responding to was a false alarm. Another on campus idiot student pulled an alarm. When the got back to the garage they saw her run over in front of the door.
Well yeah for you, and I understood that. It was meant for others that read the story such as me, who initially read her name as Jeffery (bad eyes in my case) instead of Jeffny.
