LGBT advocacy organization GLAAD praised Moonlights Best Picture win at Sunday nights Academy Awards, saying in a statement that the film being awarded with the movie industrys biggest prize sends a strong message to Hollywood about the importance of diversity.

Guess they did a double to make up for the racist awards last year by doing black and gay on this one. I’ll be sure to put it on my must NOT watch list.
Consider "Lion". "Moonlight" wasn't all that. They could have run a black gay Mickey Mouse cartoon and it would have won best picture. Because black anything had to win due to last year's tantrums.
This year was the Affirmative Action Oscars. Period. I read that Moonlight had very little in box office revenue. If nobody wanted to see it, how could it be best picture? Although I will acknowledge it is a twofer, Black AND gay.
Same for the Iranian actor who won an award .. BECAUSE he's Iranian/muslim.
Once again, Hollywierd trying to shove their values down mainstream Americans throats --- and FAILING.
That is exactly what I think. Just looking at the previews, it looks to me like a garbage picture that only won because it featured black actors and black producers. After the big kerfuffle last year about "Oscars so White", Hollywood had to do their typical liberal pandering thing.
I personally thought Will Smith deserved an Oscar last year for his movie "Concussion". He did an awesome job portraying the character of that Doctor. I've been told by people who claim to know that he just picked a bad year to do it. Apparently LA was trying to get a football team and Will Smith decided to pick a fight with the NFL at the same time.
Word is, had they given him an Oscar, it would have endangered their chance at getting a team. So they did what seemed to them to make the most economic sense.
Stupid me I thought MOONLIGHT was an autobiography of Barrack Insane Obama.
The movie has earned a little over $23 MM at the box office although it might be re-released to take advantage of the Oscar. The movie was a nice money maker as it was done on the cheap.
We just saw Hacksaw Ridge this weekend.
Funny thing, The Wife and I were making brunch while the first 1/3rd of the film played and we just stopped what we were doing and watched the film.
After 20 minutes I mentioned to Her that we were getting nowhere on our meals and we both laughed.
We paused the film and finished our food prep.
It really pulled us in...
Never heard of ‘Moonlight.’ Should I have?
Never even heard of it until they announced it had won.
Although I will acknowledge it is a twofer, Black AND gay.
You want to make an Oscar shoe-in? Make it Black and Gay. Throw in an abortion and evil Christian hate mongers, and it's a sure thing.
No.
Yeah, it's hard to have an appetite while watching a Mel Gibson blood & guts epic.
It is, at BEST, a percentage.
The question I have as I did not watch, there were TWO envelopes left. BEST PICTURE and whatever. Best Picture is always opened last. How did they go directly to the wrong envelope and declare it best picture knowing there was still one envelope to go?
***the movie industrys biggest prize sends a strong message to Hollywood***
WRONG! The biggest prize in Hollywood is $$$$$$$$$$$.
I just looked it up. They say production costs were only $1.5 million. That seems ridiculously low. I wonder how much it really cost to make.
“Anyone else get the feeling that “Moonlight” was chosen as best picture BECAUSE it’s an “LGBTQ” film?”
Could there be any other reason?
Besides, Hollywood has been giving Oscars to queer people from the very start. But now they are giving awards to queer movies.
Meh.
II’MMM SOO GLAAD!
Next year it’ll be a gay, black, muslim movie.
