FULL TITLE: 'Real men provide. Real women appreciate it': North Carolina residents plan protest over 'sexist' billboard paid for by a mystery organization
Women are planning this weekend to protest a North Carolina billboard with a message they say is a slam on gender equality, according to media reports.
A billboard on a highway between Winston-Salem and Greensboro reads, 'Real men provide. Real women appreciate it.' It's on Business 40, a heavily traveled commuter stretch of an offshoot of Interstate 40 that runs between the two cities.
Winston-Salem boutique owner Molly Grace said that she sees the sign's message as an attempt to silence women who want to be seen as equals to men.

We’re not rich, by any means.
When you do domestic stuff like cook your own meals, grow some of your own food, shop carefully, don’t waste money on buying more house than you can reasonably afford, eating out or buying prepared foods cause you’re too busy to cook yourself, daycare for the kids, movies, vacations you can’t afford, having to have the latest and greatest __________, mend etc, you CAN do it.
It’s not a matter of economic *realities*. The reality is, people can’t/don’t/won/t control their spending and live on a budget.

There's truth in that too. And I'd better not say anymore, lest I get into trouble with my better half :D

“Won’t” is the proper term.
My sister’s BF has no idea where his money goes. He doesn’t pay rent anywhere. He either lives with my sister or his mom. My sister thinks he just gives it to whoever asks for it. He had $50k in property and someone just took it from him with a fraudulent quick claim deed. My sister tried to get him to fight for it but finally just gave up.
So long as he has weed, he is content.

Except that you don't.
And you end up eating out a great deal. And you either have to hire someone to take care of the house and yard or spend what time you are not working and commuting to take care of it.
And then there is the money you spend for clothing and the expense of a the second commute.
You actually save money by having one person at home doing all the things that make a house a home.

None of this is my experience. Not a bit.

And it is mine and if you look at the financial breakdown on then it is accurate.
But what it boils down too is that you have bought into the idea that only work that brings in a pay check is "work" and that only someone who brings in a pay check is "paying their own way."
You have reduced people to wallets with legs.

For you, perhaps. Not for me. Do not assume that you understand my situation without studying it in depth.
You have reduced people to wallets with legs.
No.
