Well, I was curious because I’m looking for a ‘retirement job’.

I want to retire, but don’t want to *totally* retire, and be away from people and involvement.

I will never retire, I just want to be “able” to retire.

I would be pissing about now if I did not need a paycheck or income stream LOL

Gnight

Meatloaf?

Pureed soups and veggie dishes?

Custards? Quiche without the crust?

I like smoothies, too: a frozen banana, a handful of frozen strawberries. Toss them into a blender with enough cold apple juice to cover, and whiz until they’re all slushy.

Fresh corn on the cob is something I truly miss about the mainland. In my prime, I could do serious damage to your corn harvest.

Mainland? Where are you at?

Last year, we planted three types of corn. Super sweet, really sweet, and sweet. I never had such amazing corn as pthe super sweet. I think we’re going to do all that this year.

Mainland? Where are you at?

Big Island, Hawaii.

We used to visit my step-grandparents in Maine during summer. Grammie would not let us pick the corn until she had the water boiling. Think my record was something like 16 ears.

The joke is, the adults were all scarfing down fresh Maine lobster, which I would not eat at that age............

Poi = balls of paste, no thanks. Cannot get a taste for it, after eleven years here. Too starchy, lots of other good stuff. Rice and fresh fish are plenty Hawaiian for me.

Just the words....."key lime" .....make my mouth water. Try this to sate your lime cravings.

CREAM CHEESE KEY LIME PIE

METHOD Beat 8 oz cr/cheese creamy. Add/beat in 14 oz sweet/cond/milk. Add 3 egg yolks;
beat well. Add 1/2 cup Nellie/Joe brand key lime juice (or use fresh limes/zest); beat/combine.

FINAL Bake/set in 9" grah/crust on sheetpan 350 deg 10 min. Cool on rack on counter. Chill 2 hours.

SERVE w/ generous dollop whipped cream, lime rind curlicues, lime wedges and wheels. sprinkle of candied lime zest.

I came across a local magazine and went on line to look at it. There are some lovely recipes there. I plan to try the artichoke bagel torte for a brunch idea.

That’s OK....pie is a traditional breakfast in New England.

Usually apple pie in the land of Johnny Appleseed.

Nice recipe to have on hand for those blistering summer days ahead.

LIME SORBET MARGARITAS

Add Gold Tequila to a stemmed glass. Fill the glass 2/3 full with citrus-
flavored, carbonated soft drink (like Squirt). Add a scoop of lime sorbet.
Garnish with a sprig of mint and wedge of lime.

============================================

Good to know that lime oil in lime zest has a bit of natural sweetness in it.
That’s why a teaspoon of fresh lime zest is used in this sorbet recipe. This
is also a light dessert or a palate cleanser between courses.

Homemade French Lime Sorbet

Start making a lime simple syrup using cup water, cup sugar, cup fresh lime
juice. Gently BTB---but do not over boil. Cover the pan and then lower
heat slightly; cook about three minutes (sugar is dissolved). Cool offheat to
room temp. Last, stir in tsp lime zest. Chill at least two hours. Freeze in ice
cream maker, as per mfg.
