Born Madison Mari Gesiotto March 20, 1992 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Alma mater Ohio State University Occupation Commentator, Columnist, Miss Ohio USA Years active 2013-Present Madison Gesiotto (born Madison Mari Gesiotto on March 20, 1992) is an American conservative commentator, [1] columnist, figure skater,[2] model,[3] and beauty queen who won Miss Ohio USA 2014.[4] She represented the state of Ohio on NBC and Univision at Miss USA 2014 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 8, 2014.[5] She is currently the author of a weekly column at The Washington Times titled Millennial Mindset and previously anchored daily news briefings before they were discontinued.[6]
Early life Gesiotto was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Growing up, she attended Jackson Local Schools in Massillon, Ohio and trained as a competitive figure skater in Lakewood, Ohio at the Winterhurst Figure Skating Club. Gesiotto was coached by Olympic Champion and former actress Carol Heiss. In 2010, she passed her gold/senior tests in free skating and moves-in-the-field, the highest tests in figure skating required to compete in the Olympic Games.[2]
Education Gesiotto graduated with honors from Ohio State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication Analysis and Practice.[7]
She is currently a 3L law student attending Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University, where she is working towards a juris doctorate degree.[8]
Pageants Miss Ohio USA 2013 Gesiotto represented Columbus at the Miss Ohio USA pageant in 2013, where she placed 3rd runner-up.[9] She praised pageant competition for the networking opportunities it provided.[10]
Miss Ohio USA 2014 Gesiotto represented Mid Ohio at the Miss Ohio USA pageant in 2014, where was crowned Miss Ohio USA 2014.[11][12] This was her second attempt at the state title, having placed 3rd Runner-Up the previous year. She was recognized following her win in a resolution created by Ohio state senator Scott Oelslager and members of the Ohio Senate's 130th General Assembly.[13]
After winning Miss Ohio USA, Gesiotto was featured on various television news outlets for her promotion of political awareness and her fundraising for Wounded Warrior Project, including NBC4i,[14] FOX28,[15] and Fox 8 News [16] where she "wowed" Kristi Capel and Stefani Schaefer.[17]
She was also featured in a New York Times article profiling pageant consultant Bill Alverson.[18][19]
Miss USA 2014 Gesiotto competed in the Miss USA 2014 competition on June 8, 2014, representing the state of Ohio.[20]
She passed on her title to Miss Ohio USA 2015 in November 2014.[21] Shortly after, Gesiotto was named #56 on Smartasses Radio's 2015 Top 100 Sexiest Women Alive list.[22]
Career Gesiotto is currently the author of a weekly column at The Washington Times titled Millennial Mindset, which focuses on various American political, policy, and legal issues.[23] She previously anchored daily news briefings (The Washington Times Exclusive Weekend Briefing [24] and The Washington Times Exclusive Daily Briefing)[25] before they were discontinued.
Gesiotto previously worked for Mitt Romney's 2012 Presidential Campaign and on The United States Senate Small Business Committee.[26] As a law student at Moritz College of Law, Gesiotto is a staff editor for The Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law.[27]
Gesiotto, who is a pro-life advocate, wrote a column in which she referred to abortion as "the number one killer of black Americans," [28] a position that resulted in some controversy at her law school campus.[29]
When Donald Trump was accused of making sexist remarks to a Miss Universe pageant winner during his campaign for president, Gesiotto defended the Republican presidential nominee in her Washington Times column.[30] Gesiotto described two instances in which she personally interacted with Trump, and described the reasons why she supported him for president.
