Black women serving in the United States Army are cheering revised regulations that permit hair locks, ending what critics said were years of scrutiny and confusing enforcement of rules about their appearance.

Oh good grief...
Remnants of the previous traitorous administration.
I suspect a year from now the only men and women serving in uniform will be those who truly care about defending this great nation.
All others can get their civil service jobs at the Social Security office downtown.
are corn rows allowed for men ?
Do these idiots understand why those rules were in place? Hint: Long hair and dreadlocks can be a hinderance in combat (esp. in hot areas such as the Middle East) and also can be exploited for torture purposes.
Sheesh.
Mindless decision. Not only would dreadlocks be dangerous in battle (if a jihadi grabs some chick’s ‘locks’ he has a much better chance of gutting her than he would with a woman wearing shorter hair.)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I have read the primary reason military men had buzzcuts was to protect them from head-lice epidemics?
Men should be clean shaven and crew cuts. Women pixie cuts.
this is a set up for a protest. because of how unsanitary dread locks are in deployment situations the military is going to remove this one. hint you cant wash dreadlocks and lice can be a problem if not taken care of correctly. I am guessing this relaxation lasts only thee months at the max long enough for issues to arise.
Next up: specially designed gas masks to ensure an air-tight seal, with straps and hoods roomy enough to accomodate dreds.
The ones that elect to wear these hairstyles may find that out in person.
What we think of as dreadlocks and what the Army thinks of are two different things. Technically, the Army now allows “corn rows”, which are a pencil thick, skull conforming, neat and tidy hairstyle suitable for black women and even some men. Corn rows are also low maintenance, to the point where even some white women expecting extended hospital stays will get them, because of the low maintenance.
It takes several hours to create them, so except for washing, they are left alone.
Those dreadlocks lock might unsanitary, IMHO.
They’re messy and unprofessional. What a load.
Corn holes were OK in the Obama army.
Hey...welcome to FR and ...
Welcome Home
I think servicemen should have the option to look as fierce and scary as they want. Includes tats and piercings. Strike fear, isn’t that the name of the game? Or should ours look like Chinese robots?
Three words:
High.
And.
Tight.
“Equivalent” can be many things but “equal” is never one of them. Only “equal” is always “equal.” Equivalency more often than not is a bigotry posing as equality. This is a rule written expressly to mollify black women (there’s no such thing as a “female soldier”, just like there’s no such thing as “friendly fire”) who would never volunteer to serve if they had to abide by men’s grooming standards. It’s the lie of equivalency. Jim Crow re-writtten to the benefit of the prospective black women recruits.
Ah, yes! "Today's Army want's to join YOU!"

I’m glad because it’ll make it easy for Trump to figure out who in the chain of command gave that imbecilic order, AND SEND HIS A$$ PACKING! He certainly needs to be sent packing, and this will facilitate that.
Smelly unwashed hair, oh boy.
