An Ohio truck driver is being credited for his warm heart and his ability to pay attention to things others may have overlooked.
When Dan OGrady passed a little dog on the side of the highway in Florida, he knew he had to do something.
He pulled over on the next exit and walked back to find the little dog.
The frantic Jack Russell terrier barked at OGrady and continued to run away from him every time he got close. OGrady refused to give up and followed the terrier into the woods by the highway.
Underneath a bush, OGrady saw a domestic rabbit, scooped him up and headed back to the truck. Satisfied that the rabbit had been found, the little dog followed.
OGrady named the pair Highway and Interstate and fed them before heading to the nearest animal shelter.
The shelter took custody of the dog, but would not take the rabbit.
However, OGrady remembered that the Humane Society of Summit County accepted rabbits, so he bought a few supplies and made his way to Ohio.
The humane society says Interstate was lucky that his friend refused to abandon him when help finally arrived.
The rabbit was bony and malnourished, but is now back on his feet and up for adoption. Highway has already been adopted.
Dan OGray literally went the extra mile to rescue Highway and Interstate, the society said on a Facebook page.
I’ll be darned-—short hair,pointed ears,pointed snout,medium size——just like the others.
I had never heard of the Dixie Dingo.
.
I’ve had two Carolina Dogs. They were great animals, but a little weird at times. My were 4th and 5th generation from the wild.
Looks just like my dog!
Probably true for humans to.
This is heart-melting, especially the picture of that good, good doggie!
The Bunny SAVED!
No body doesn’t like bunnies.
Four years ago, my wife fell in love with a tiny cockapoo puppy in a pet store. Knowing that I didn’t care much for dogs, she called to see it it’d be OK. She wanted it so badly that I gave in. When she got home, she dumped that little ball of fur in my lap. A lifetime of anti hound feelings melted away. Four years down the road, and try as I may, he will have nothing to do with me. Karma is real, FRiends.
Beautiful, elegant, smart dog; sweet little rabbit...
Without pets, life in this world would be empty......
>>>A Jack Russel that did not kill the rabbit?<<<
He probably just ate the Pancake off the top of the Bunny’s head.
When one of my horses walks up to me,puts it’s head on my shoulder and sighs-it’s a special moment.Same thing when one of my dogs or cats expresses it’s love and gratitude.
Are horses really that personable? Do you think they have the same sense of loyalty that a dog or cat does? (well, maybe not a cat)
That’s deer ears. Or one damn big bunny.
Many animals do. Personalities vary.
Watch “Bad Dog”. You’ll see some incredible animals who aren’t “bad” at all. Like the cow who absolutely adores her woman. Or the bison (buffalo) Wild Thing who goes in and out of the house with his people.
Horses can be very people friendly if they’re treated fairly and with respect.I’ve worked with these horses for years to socialize them and they see me as the leader of the herd. They are as smart as most dogs too, when they pay attention to you it’s possible to teach them a lot of things.
Bunny is so cute! Bless the doggie.
Wouldn’t one think the dog and bunny both belong to the same person? I’d think they’d put out an alarm that these 2 animals were found together and are looking for their owner.
Kind of sad to think they were split up, 1 in FL and the other in OH.
he basically said the same thing as you. But me, not being familiar with horses, has forever looked at them as just big dumb animals........I know, that's unfair.
