Before I posted those questions, I clicked on every link in the original article, and then clicked on every link in the linked articles.
Nothing.
Kraft went to Russia with a bunch of other businessmen and had a private meeting with Putin.
No explanations. And no name given for the White House call.
My conclusion - either Putin or Bush promised Kraft something, Kraft was disappointed with how things turned out, so Kraft dumped on both Putin and Bush to get even.
By the way - I use a lot of Microsoft products that are very good. But Google is clearly superior to Bing.

Apparently you still didn’t research for the answers for your questions.
For my *bing* search, I used this : 2005 why was robert craft in russia with putin?
