Relocating for work to Texas from southern NH - looking for FReeper advice/input - been lurking out here for 19 or so years - best community to ask a question of. I know there'll be some snark, but anyway..

The best advice I had when moving to San Antonio was to be careful of the area you move to. IIRC, you want to stick to the north side of the city. I lived in Converse, to the northeast, which was nice.

I’d look North or West of SA proper. The city is a liberal Hell-Hole in many ways but the areas around it are nice.

Look in three suburbs north of city of san antonio:

Alamo Heights - best school system in state, low tax

Olmos Park, low tax

Terrell Hills - part of city

Monte Vista District of San Antonio

Get you some statistical data of the areas, look at the crime, population, taxes, etc.
Most likely you may want to locate in one of the surrounding communites and commute.

Ask if or when the place you are looking at flooded. SA floods easy and often.

San Antonio is very liberal, as is Austin (the Capital).

Good luck.

I agree. My relations who live there are super liberal ... and one is a church leader who voiced anti-Trump stuff to his flock before the election. And they all seem to be suffering from white privilege.

North and Northwest side is the best side to live on. That is where the Conservatives are. Where do you think you will be working? What kind of information do your need?

No longer live there but it is a great city.

72.6% White (Non-Hispanic Whites: 26.6%)
6.9% Black
0.9% Native American
2.4% Asian
0.1% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
3.4% Two or more races
13.7% Other races

City government centrist.
Economy good.
Race relations very good.
Hispanic non Hispanic white intermarriage a whole lot.
Crime is low considering it is a very big city.
Cops in San Antonio are the good guys.
San Antonio is not a sanctuary city.

Good place to live.
