Meet the Saccorhytus, your oldest ancestor and your newest nightmare.
This week a team of paleontologists described a new link in the chain of human evolution and it isnt pretty. With its bag-like body, prominent mouth and no anus (it likely excreted waste from openings by its mouth, almost like primitive gills), the Saccorhytus looks like it crawled off the set of Alien, but researchers say the millimeter-long organism is a key early branch off our tree of life.
Look into the gaping maw of our oldest ancestors Look into the gaping maw of our oldest ancestors A 540-million-year-old fossil of the Saccorhytus was discovered in sedimentary rock in central China,

Not just as a person. As a legal scholar as well.
The Garden of Eden story is similar to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Things happen very quickly in Genesis and in the movie although in reality they took longer. They took a long time for a long time, if that doesn’t make me sound like Donald Rumsfeld, and then they got faster, if that doesn’t make me sound like the 2,000-year-old man.
All exploded theories about man have one thing in common: We used to look more important to ourselves under the old theory. Flat earth, sun going around earth, not part of the animal kingdom, everything inherited from our worshipped ancestors rather than learned, etc.
The way we really differ the most from the animals is our big fat ego. That’s what got us thrown out of paradise. The animals didn’t get thrown out.
I guess some religions place humans in a special status. I cannot generalize that all religions do that, because Islam places humans in a very low status, and I do not know enough about other non-Judeo-Christian religions to say.
What I can say is that science is merely the practice of using our powers of observation to try to understand the physical world. Religion exists to try to explain why we exist. I do not see any incompatibility with that; most of the "divide" between science and religion is introduced by con-men who see opportunity for profit by subtly attacking religion and science in such a way that they convince devout people that they are looking out for them.
I can tell you that the outspoken atheists are not representative of scientists. I also have observed from youtube videos of atheist scientists that at least some of them have substituted the universe for God in their personal beliefs. As far as I can tell from working with scientists is that they are as likely as anyone to be members of an organized religion.
We are special because God is mindful of us and loves us. Everything else pales beside that, so in a sense it isn’t important how we got here. But it’s nice to understand things the way they really are. Creation is so beautiful, and possibly a metaphor of sorts for us in understanding a lot of things.
A high percentage of humans are disgusting creatures.
Great read. More and more people are picking up on the ongoing societal schism that cannot be repaired.

“HOW ‘BOUT DEM PATRIOTS?!?!?!”
OH M A N !! I’m still a Pats fan, and that was the most fun I ever had in a S Bowl ! Or ever WILL have !
That was pretty much the greatest football game, SB or no, EVER!
Topping that is going to be hard (I’ll never say impossible) to top.
Maybe the 73-0 CHI-WAS game 75+ years ago?
Maybe 90-0 : )
:)
The correct formulation is that a CLOSED SYSTEM must progress towards a state of increased entropy, i. e. a little order here, a lot of disorder there.
The 3rd Law is in no way a proof of extraphysical intervention as an explanation for the existence of life on earth, including ourselves.
