Activist, style icon and intern Malia Obama started working in New York City this week, and boy, do we wish the dress code was this laid back in our own internship days.
The 18-year-old looked super casual and super cute as she arrived at her gig working for Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in a crop top, belted high-waisted jeans, lace-up boots and a big shearling coat.
SPLASH NEWS If the coat looks familiar, perhaps it’s because it looks an awful like the coat she was spotted wearing while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline last week.
We have to hand it to Malia for making mom jeans look this cute. Just think how proud her backwards hat-wearing fellow normcore enthusiast Barack Obama must be right about now.
Sigh. Though mom jeans have been trendy for a bit, they can be a bit tricky. Our advice is to avoid pleats at all costs, and take some inspiration from Malia and these other style stars, perhaps in one of the pairs below?

It obviously worked. Motown singers more often than not seemed the epitome of class

We used to say high-waisted in the old days but this is too much. That kid looks angry....

Our young women need more like Maxine!! There may be a market for “finishing schools”. Those young women would be light years ahead of what is out there now.
It used to make me so sad when I would see young women come in to apply for work at any of the jobs I had. One came in a tube top. Did they have no one to advise them??
Maybe those are her dad’s mom jeans. Look at the fly on them. It is zippered in the direction for a man not a woman.

That reminds me of a post on FB. Someone posted that President Trump wanted his female staff members to dress like ladies. I could not believe all the negative comments. They thought there should not be a dress code. My one thought was that these characters must not have held a real world job. They are real fruit loops.
I wish I had worn a traditional uniform. I had the stupid “Ice Cream Man” uniform in the mid-Seventies. I would have preferred the Dixie Cup.
Yes...my parents went to Hong Kong, and they had a boatload of clothes custom made there.

I don’t envy Obama’s daughter. I don’t think it is going to end well for her. She is going to have gobs of money, because her grifter parents got fat while in office, but I don’t think she is ever going to be happy.
