I kind of type casted him after seeing him in Harry Potter. The shock of his role in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas hit me for a loop.
Martin Freeman should be free now that Sherlock is done.
“Why not Kim Kardashian? Kanye West? Beyonce?”
Because I don’t like them and I think they’d suck as Doctor Who.
I don’t care who it is as long as the Doctor wears a fez - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obnblNruPiU
I want him to like jelly babies too.
Oh, and wears trainers with his suits.
Wasn’t it a meme that Time Lords only had 12 regenerations? The Master got around that by taking over someone else’s body, but that was evil, and the Doctor wouldn’t do that. So he could only come back as one of his earlier regenerations. Perhaps the 12th Doctor was supposed to be a recycling of the 1st Doctor; they looked alike.
So any actor selected to portray the Doctor would have to resemble one of the first 11.
Well duh, that was my point. You seriously think Woody Allen would make a good Doctor Who?
“You seriously think Woody Allen would make a good Doctor Who?”
Maybe. He’d certainly be an amusing one!
He’s already on his 13th. John Hurt, the War Doctor, is not among the 12.
Maybe because of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, “The Hobbit”, and “Sherlock”, I can’t see him in this role. He does well as the character that is always a bit befuddled. But if he got the role, I would watch.
Sure, why not Dave Chapelle? Or Judy Tenuta? Steven Wright? They’re funny.
But they’d make terrrible Doctor Whos.
(Plus Woody Allen hasn’t been funny in 30 years.)
Did Conviction not get picked up? I was watching Haley Atwell in that.
Dr Who has long been played as slightly befuddled, as a result of a jumbled timeline and multiple regenerations. The past few doctors have forgotten that, but it’s essential to his character.
Still, “Mr. Bean” as the next Dr. Who would be decent.
I’ll miss Peter Capaldi...
...he was the most entertaining DR for me and I’ve been watching since ‘72.
As far as the new DR goes hummm, I dunno.
I agree Dr Who needs that befuddled part of his character. I thought David Tenant pulled it off in a manic hyper but still fun fashion. I also think that Martin Freeman could do it.
