At first I thought it was a Terry Kath thing. Looks like it wasn’t.

My wife and I have a friend whos husband, after they had a bad argument, went upstairs to the bedroom and shot himself dead. The impact it makes on survivors can be catastrophic.

It is the most narcissistic thing a person can do. And in front of “loved ones” multiplies that factor.

But, but, but...

Drugs are a victimless crime, or so I’ve heard from the Liberaltarians on FR.

During a stressful time that clouds one’s common sense can result in an action that is irreversible. If Mr. Trucks was on medication or had been experiencing a lack of sleep, it would have exacerbated problems. My late wife was in that spiral and in a rash moment removed herself from our family forever. I understand how it can happen but her one action affected literally hundreds of people for the rest of their lives.

The story implies that he did this because of money problems, but there really isn’t enough information to say that that is the real reason.

Generally speaking, where and how someone commits suicide can explain a few things. Killing yourself in front of someone, or in their home is usually a form of message.

I read an interesting essay on suicide several years ago.

Almost all suicides by healthy adults fall into three categories:

(1) Drug or alcohol addiction

(2) Clinical depression or schizophrenia

(3) Family history of suicide

Suicides by elderly adults are almost always related to the death of a spouse or a constant companion, or because of intractable health issues.

Suicides by the young are almost always impulsive and usually follow a highly emotional event.

But, in general, suicide is quite rare, about 1 in 10,000.

Lord, I was born a “family” man,
Tryin’ to make a livin’ and doin’ the best I can.
And when it’s time for leavin’,
I hope you’ll understand,
That I was born a ramblin’ man.

My father was a gambler down in Georgia,
And he wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin’ down highway 41.

Lord, I was born a ramblin’ man,
Tryin’ to make a livin’ and doin’ the best I can.
And when it’s time for leavin’,
I hope you’ll understand,
That I was born a ramblin’ man.

I’m on my way to New Orleans this mornin’,
Leaving out of Nashville, Tennessee,
They’re always having a good time down on the bayou, Lord
Them Delta women think the world of me.

Lord, I was born a ramblin’ man,
Tryin’ to make a livin’ and doin’ the best I can.
And when it’s time for leavin’,
I hope you’ll understand,
That I was born a ramblin’ man.

Sad story, but I’ve got to say... that’s a SELFISH JERK of a thing to do, no matter how much you hate someone.

If you must off yourself, let your last event be one that minimizes the hurt on your family.

Although I've always been comfortable financially (there were a couple of lean years in my early 20’s) I've never made one-one hudredth of what this guy probably made yet I've never been to the point where I considered that.I wonder if this is just another example of the Lottery Winner Syndrome? It is possible for a person to have *too much* money.

The legendary drummer, 69, had been dogged by financial woes for years

Where did all the millions go? And wouldn't he receive ongoing royalties?
