Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks fatally shot himself in front of his wife in Florida, according to law enforcement records.
The legendary drummer, 69, had been dogged by financial woes for years, The Mail reported, citing local court records.

Good point. We often comment about how the deceased should have off’d him/herself before killing several victims (usually family). But I can’t imagine the emotional trauma to his wife.

Heaven calling his neighbor racist names and threatening physical violence on his neighbor so I arrested him for harassment.
He was a real piece of work, I got them in my patrol car to transport him to jail and he was ranting and raving and complaining and in an effort to calm him down I asked him what kind of music he wanted to listen to.
He said you don’t have any music I like, I said you have no idea what I have on my iPod, pointing to my iPod and speakers velcroed to my dashboard.
He cursed at me a few times and then I asked him if you like the Allman Brothers. He said he love the Allman Brothers anyone’s went on tour with them as a roadie.
So I fired up Whipping Post and turned it up as loud as I could so we could hear it through the divider between the front and back seats.
It was a very hot summer night any asked me to roll down his window which I did, as we were driving along listening to Whipping Post he said this is almost like being on my motorcycle with my hair blowing in the wind listening to my boys.
I told him yeah except tonight you’re “ridin bitch” (aka ridin on back of bike.)
He sat there stunned for a second then began laughing and said “you’re all right son.”
Thats my Almman bros story.
And with Ronnie James Dio, Leon Russell and several others dying last few years....the greats are stackin up.
Amazing how they visit us sometimes. My mother passed away nearly 12 years ago. my grandparents are 30 years gone. In one year my sisters two youngest daughters moved out: one got married and the other graduated from college. The oldest had been up and out for a while. One night my sister dreamed of my grandmothers kitchen. Everyone was there, all the women of the family.. both of our grandmothers, mom and all her sisters. They were preparing a holiday meal. they were laughing, joking, having a real good time. My sister related this to me and asked me what it meant. I told her it was quite simple, really. I told her it wasn’t a dream, and that they were all there with her. and the message was “congratulations, you’ve raised all of your children sucessfully. Welcome to the club”. When I said this she cried..and then smiled. They find a way sometimes, I truly believe.
