Dear Hollywood

Dear Hollywood,

It's time to wake up now. Get this! The only reason you exist is for my entertainment.

Some of you are beautiful. Some of you can deliver a line with such conviction that you bring tears to my eyes. Some of you are so convincing that you scare the crap out of me. And others are so funny you can make me laugh uncontrollably.

But you all have one thing in common. You only exist and have a place in my world to entertain me. That's it. Nothing else!

You make your living pretending to be someone else. You play dress-up like a 5-year-old. Your world is a make believe world. It is not real. It doesn't exist. You live for the camera while the rest of us live in the real world. Your entire existence depends on my patronage. I crank the organ and you dance. Therefore, I don't care where you stand on issues.

Honestly, your opinion means nothing to me. Just because you had a lead role in a movie about prostitution doesn't mean you know what it's like to be a prostitute. Your view matters about as much to me as that of a someone living in Timbuktu.

Believe me or not, the hard truth is that you aren't real. I leave the theater, turn off my TV or shut down my computer and you cease to exist. Once I am done with you, I go back to the real world until I want you to entertain me again.

I don't care that you think BP executives deserve the death penalty. I don't care what you think about the environment. I don't care if you believe fracking is bad. I don't care if you call for more gun control. I don't care if you believe in catastrophic human-induced global warming. And I could care less that you supported Hillary for President.

Get back into your bubble. I'll let you know when I'm in the mood for something pretty or scary or funny. And one other thing. What was with all this "I'll leave the country if Donald Trump wins"? Don't you realize how really stupid that made you sound?

What did you think my reaction was going to be? I better not vote for Trump or we'll lose Whoopi Goldberg? Al Sharpton? Amy Schumer?

Leave. I don't care! And don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Make me laugh. Make me cry. Even scare me. But realize this, the only words of yours that matter is scripted — just like your pathetic little lives.

I may agree with some of you from time to time, but in the final analysis, it doesn't matter. In my world, you exist solely for my entertainment.

So, shut up and dance, monkey, dance!

Oh. And that terribly produced, in-artful, “poetically bad video” you made up?

As a production, it really stinks.
As a song parody, it is even worse.
As a propaganda tool, it is worthless.

But you have to admit, as Exhibit A of liberal arrogance and a great target for ridicule and parody it was fantastic!

For me, their existence is even less than that. When Meryl Streep whined about how if all the showbiz types were run out of town we would have nothing to watch but football and the martial arts, she was wrong. We have 100 years of movies, 65 years of TV, another 100 years of recorded music, much of it readily available and much of it better than what is produced today. I prefer the old stuff anyway, so I would barely notice if Meryl’s Hollywood pogrom came true.

Yes, thanks for sharing. I have long been disgusted with the “credibility” given to Hollywood performers/”stars” by the media, particularly at the expense of coverage of legitimate heroes that live and breathe among us.

Most of us stopped playing make believe in childhood. That they haven’t explains much.

I watched part of that video the other day. I could not believe these people were professional actors. They were TERRIBLE. It was a childish attempt at scolding the rest of us because we're not like them.

Excuse me but who in their right mind would want to stand up in front of the entire world and reveal just how stupid you really are? Not I. You losers can have the corner on that idea if you want but count me out.

Personally, I like to watch good movies. But I don't pay any attention to the actors real lives. I am not a celebrity fan. I like movies for the entertainment. Not the adulation of the stars.

Cannot remember who it was, but some years ago, Congress asked a movie star to testify about the plight of the USA farmers....BECAUSE SHE HAD PLAYED A FARMER’S WIFE in a movie!!!!

Maybe Jessica Lange.

She never spent any time feeding animals or breaking ice on water tanks when it is Zero or colder outside.
She never cleaned milk cans year around.
She never had to feed your day’s milk production to the hogs because the milk truck could NOT get thru on the snowbound roads.
She never had to walk a 30 acre pasture looking for the halter one of the horses managed to discard without permission into the muddy frozen ground.
She never had to crawl up a ladder covered with frost to hack out frozen silage & send it down the chute to feed the cows.
She never had to spend a week in the spring cleaning out the yearling calf pen inside the barn which now has 3 feet of packed manure inside.
She never had to pass on going to a party or other event which would have been just marvelous to attend because the animals must have priority.
She never hung clothes out on the clothesline & then had the preface of a tornado redistribute them all over the orchard & the washing had to be done all over again.
She didn’t have to have a ‘headbolt heater’ in her vehicle so that it MIGHT start every morning when the temp got below Zero. We had 6 vehicles on headbolt heaters & the temp got to -70 one year in Wisconsin on our dairy farm. ONLY one vehicle started—a 1933 Chevy pickup trick (mine) that had a 51 Chevy 6 engine in it. I push started every other vehicle to get everyone going.
She never had to help kill & pluck & dress 90 chickens every Thursday, helping a neighbor get them to the local market or Friday.
All the animals-cows-hogs-chickens-sheep-horses-dogs had priority over anything that humans did on the farm.
Chores came first—before WE ate- and before we changed clothes & went to school in a one room schoolhouse with 14 kids—8 grades—1 teacher who had 2 years of college—no running water—2 outhouses out back & 1 merry-go-round for entertainment at recess. After school, we changed clothes, did chores, and took care of the milking BEFORE
WE ate supper.

When the politicians think that an actress PLAYING A ROLE has more information about how someone’s life really is, this country is doomed.

I know that every single ticket bought for a movie or play comes from ‘disposable income’. That is what is left after you have paid the mortgage—the taxes—the power—the phone—the groceries—and all the other overhead daily life hands you. Since it is DISPOSABLE income, I will dispose of it as I wish-—and that does NOT include any movie tickets.

When Trump brings success to every part of the USA & Hollywood is left behind, perhaps they will get a clue. Meanwhile, I would NOT trade any of the life we all had growing up in rural Wisconsin.

FTA: “Just because you had a lead role in a movie about prostitution doesn’t mean you know what it’s like to be a prostitute”.

But they do. There is the casting couch. The taking of money for favors political or otherwise. They just charge more for their services.

Another thing is the pathetic celebrity worship, some of their fans treat them as if they’re greater than G-D. A former FB friend gave me crap cursing up a storm for criticizing Cher. (maybe it’s me, but other than the people in The Bible I’m leery of anyone who goes by one name, Cher, Maddonna, Bono, etc) I responded by reminding this fool how like most celebs he couldn’t care less about the praise her follwers heap upon her and like most celebs she wouldn’t so much as p*ss in their mouths if their throats were on fire. I told this lost soul in spite of all that here she is acting as her PR flack and not even getting paid for it, so who’s the REAL a**hole? Needless to say she unfriended me, but that’s OK, it was like the trash taking itself out.

I do like Popeye’s but we don’t even have a KFC in Flagstaff anymore.
