Yes, thanks for sharing. I have long been disgusted with the “credibility” given to Hollywood performers/”stars” by the media, particularly at the expense of coverage of legitimate heroes that live and breathe among us.
Cannot remember who it was, but some years ago, Congress asked a movie star to testify about the plight of the USA farmers....BECAUSE SHE HAD PLAYED A FARMER’S WIFE in a movie!!!!
Maybe Jessica Lange.
She never spent any time feeding animals or breaking ice on water tanks when it is Zero or colder outside.
She never cleaned milk cans year around.
She never had to feed your day’s milk production to the hogs because the milk truck could NOT get thru on the snowbound roads.
She never had to walk a 30 acre pasture looking for the halter one of the horses managed to discard without permission into the muddy frozen ground.
She never had to crawl up a ladder covered with frost to hack out frozen silage & send it down the chute to feed the cows.
She never had to spend a week in the spring cleaning out the yearling calf pen inside the barn which now has 3 feet of packed manure inside.
She never had to pass on going to a party or other event which would have been just marvelous to attend because the animals must have priority.
She never hung clothes out on the clothesline & then had the preface of a tornado redistribute them all over the orchard & the washing had to be done all over again.
She didn’t have to have a ‘headbolt heater’ in her vehicle so that it MIGHT start every morning when the temp got below Zero. We had 6 vehicles on headbolt heaters & the temp got to -70 one year in Wisconsin on our dairy farm. ONLY one vehicle started—a 1933 Chevy pickup trick (mine) that had a 51 Chevy 6 engine in it. I push started every other vehicle to get everyone going.
She never had to help kill & pluck & dress 90 chickens every Thursday, helping a neighbor get them to the local market or Friday.
All the animals-cows-hogs-chickens-sheep-horses-dogs had priority over anything that humans did on the farm.
Chores came first—before WE ate- and before we changed clothes & went to school in a one room schoolhouse with 14 kids—8 grades—1 teacher who had 2 years of college—no running water—2 outhouses out back & 1 merry-go-round for entertainment at recess. After school, we changed clothes, did chores, and took care of the milking BEFORE
WE ate supper.
When the politicians think that an actress PLAYING A ROLE has more information about how someone’s life really is, this country is doomed.
I know that every single ticket bought for a movie or play comes from ‘disposable income’. That is what is left after you have paid the mortgage—the taxes—the power—the phone—the groceries—and all the other overhead daily life hands you. Since it is DISPOSABLE income, I will dispose of it as I wish-—and that does NOT include any movie tickets.
When Trump brings success to every part of the USA & Hollywood is left behind, perhaps they will get a clue. Meanwhile, I would NOT trade any of the life we all had growing up in rural Wisconsin.
