I had a running countdown on a white board in my office. Never told anyone what is was for, it was just a number I would subtract 1 from each day, and re-write. Started at about 440ish days.

Finally let a colleague in on the secret over the Summer, and later moved out of that office last month. Watching that number decline each day has been one of one way of reinforcing optimism during the unnatural disaster of ‘fundamental transformation.’
