Maryland school district employee fired over tweet
A social media manager for a Maryland school district was fired over a light-hearted tweet she sent to a student about his spelling.
When the student asked @FCPSMaryland over Twitter on Jan. 5 for school to be closed tammarow, Katie Nash, 33, replied, but then how would you learn how to spell tomorrow? :)
The student took Nashs reply in stride, writing on Twitter that he didnt take it personally, but Frederick County Public Schools terminated her contract anyway.

Yes, heaven forbid if we try to get kids to learn so they can actually get jobs and support themselves and not having to leach off of the taxpayers, what was she thinking?

Sounds like that was a jab at admin. LOL! Good for her.

It was white liberals that decided to fire the teacher.
No stupider being on the planet than a white liberal. At least I can understand to a degree why a black person would be liberal.

Pathetic.
I hope this teacher will find a good job, with a good boss that isn’t a Coward!

If I were a teacher, I would NEVER tweet ANYTHING to a student. NEVER.
Maybe that’s just me.

I had forgotten that priceless line. I laughed all over again when you reminded me and I am still chuckling. Thanks for that.

Yeah, you’ve got to be careful. Fascist liberals have no qualms trying to use social media comments to ruin your life. Getting someone fired from their job is a favorite tactic.

This looks like somebody wanted to get rid of her long before this, and used the incident as cover. Weak excuse to put someone out of work. Muslims were doing this sort of thing in the UK to change the power structure from within.

And yet for truly egregious behavior, it is almost impossible to fire them.

In firing its School Website/Social Media Web Experience Coordinator, Katie Nash, the
Frederick County Public School Communication Services and its Director, Michael Doerrer appear obsessed with politically correctness and not the least bit interested in their stated purpose of "promot[ing] student achievement by engaging families and community members in our schools, building pride in and support for public education, facilitating effective internal and public communication, and recognizing employee excellence."
One wonders if the Frederick County, Maryland, public school system is interesting in the notion of becoming an educational institution or in just raising the next generation of welfare entitlists.

The fired woman has handled it with class; I’ll give props to her for that.

Yeah, let’s keep black kids stupid and not teach them how to spell correctly.

I propose legislation to place the following sign over the main entrance of every public school:
“Abandon hope all ye who enter here”

. . . after which they should be terminated themselves, have their heads shaven, stripped naked, tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.
I got terminated from a job of 14 years for doing something similar, though it was an e-mail, not a tweet. The real reason was due to my age and large amount of accumulated vacation which corporate could steal by inventing a lame excuse.
