The officers tried to pull him over, but he didn't want to, so they let him go?

Filth like this thief would be rare if they got 20 years for this kind of harm they do to society.

While I sympathize with this poor sucker, trying to make a buck, this new trend of setting up a GoFundMe account at the least setback is deplorable.

“I haven’t heard of a policy where you are supposed to turn your car off. I wasn’t aware of that,”

Gee, do you think perhaps you might have concluded that on your own? I mean after all it was your pride & joy. You didn't think it might be an open invitation for some unscrupulous passerby?

That company, CARMAX, would do well to step in to help this guy out. Golden PR.

“It is just kind of a traumatic experience. I never thought it would happen,” Warren said.

I guess he'll be changing his voter registration now.

They’re great little cars. Wish he had locked the doors, at least, with a 2nd key.

There are those walking among us who constantly look for any weakness or slip-up. It’s hard to guard against all of it but something like this is one they often look for.

I miss my old SUV with the keycode pad on the door.

OK; so a college student leaves his car running, and leaves his wallet, and leaves his cell phone in the car while he delivers a pizza. Based on what I saw in this story, it is entirely possible that delivering pizza is going to be the highlight of his professional career. Hope he is not majoring in brain surgery.

Sad story, losing a car. Big mistake, leaving it running.

At age 21 I had a ‘66 Mustang that was my pride and joy and if stolen, I would have told the whole world. It is fun to work on cars, learn mechanics and be responsible.

95% of crime is to get drugs. The car thief needed drugs and took the car.

Yeah, because when you keep chasing them, and they are obviously not stopping, they do increasingly stupid things. Like blow through stop signs and red lights at 90mph and kill innocent people.
If its a kidnapper, a killer, or some violent crime, then it might make sense.
But most people don’t want to be notified their family wont be coming home because the police in Golden were trying to save a 2500 dollar payout for GEICO or State Farm.
The risk is too high there. Tourist town, pedestrians and bikes everywhere. The road to lookout mountain is filled with bikes too.

Here’s an example.

I wonder if he’ll leave his keys in the ignition (and billfold, and mom’s cellphone) in his unlocked car next time he delivers?

Yeah, probably. He sounds pretty stupid.

Cannon fodder in the upcoming CW2...
