Providence police are introducing additional training to help officers interact with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Mayor Jorge Elorza and Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements say they’re dedicated to creating LGBT-inclusive policies for members of the department as well as specific training curriculum for the next police academy.
Clements says the goal is to help officers become more aware of issues facing the LGBT community in Providence.
Elorza, a Democrat, says the training is a way to let the Providence community know the city supports it and is ready to respond to their needs. …

Why? Do LGBTQ people need their Miranda rights read differently? Do they need handcuffs put on in a more inclusive way?

I have to believe it’s a net loss vote wise but maybe it’s a big gain for fund raising, it must be it’s the only rational explanation...but I shouldn’t assume lucent thinking with the rats.

Aren’t these just people, you know, two arms, two legs, one head...they eat, breath, sleep like the rest of us...so why does their sex life make their treatment different from any one else? They aren’t special, or homeless, or rich or poor because of their sex life..well maybe, ah do they do anything else besides have sex? Maybe that is it..wow, what a miserable life. Poor things.

I saw the Training Manual online. Couldn’t get past the Chapter entitled Gerbils, Hamsters, and Lightbulbs..Medical Emergency, or Not?

The Police will need rubber gloves when handling persons of the LGBT persuasion. What other aspects do they heed. Disabled people are not treated any differently by the police.
Who cares? Why should the LGBT folks be treated any differently than anyone else? What a WASTE of public money and police time to give them special training toward any particular group.
And what method should we use for handling persons of the Liar, Fraud, Stolen Valor persuasion?
