The blandest, most boring fruit to hit the new world. Why am I not surprised that the most boring country in the old world has taken it up.

I thought I was the only one who doesn’t see the value in this green blob.

By itself, yes it's bland. But in a guacamole dip, not bland. I grew up eating them cut in half, with the seed hole filled up with Italian dressing. Also works well with French or Russian. I don't care if they get world-wide popular, but I hope they start growing them world-wide so they don't start getting stupid pricey.

Hmmmmm.

Let's take that one at a time.

First of all, if avocados hit the new world, it must have happened hundreds of thousands years ago. It is considered native to the Western hemisphere.

Second, avocadoes are a most versatile fruit.
When my daughter was in High School, her friends (girl's H.S.) were all grossed out when she first showed up with a sandwich of her own creation : Boiled egg/avocado sandwich.

By the end of the year, she had to bring several each time by request and could have sold a bunch if she had been so inclined.

Speaking for myself, a common quick snack meal, specially on weekends, used to be mixed rice/avocado with mayo or light dressing of choice.

Food of the Gods!
I have 7 in the kitchen right now.

BTW, if you don’t like them, ask yourself where yours are being grown. Florida avocados and inedible ... think skin, lighter in color, sometimes huge but watery and unpleasant.

Only California avocados are good ... and Mexico. preferably HASS variety.
