I think society accepting this pattern is what Dr. Drew was referring to with the we failed comment. It is heartbreaking to consider what childhood life could lead to these monsters when taken into context of a five year old.

Drove a cab for a while and was in and out of the projects a lot.
Kids being sent to get food for crack addict mom.
Urine, drug needles, condom wrappers and worse in the hallways. Yes, a FEW times I went in to find gals I knew who had gone in to buy drugs.
They would call the cab, go into the projects for drugs and sometimes never come out. They were from the “good” neighborhoods and I knew a few of them.
After the second time, I said “#### this” and just drove off after 15 minutes.
They paid up front. Called crack and back trips.
