I make a pepper-infused espresso that works in the same manner. I love black coffee and hot peppers, so the meld is delicious. It’s simple and a great way to warm up and get the blood flowing.
Simply filled the charger with one shot of coffee and place a few slices of your favorite pepper on top of the charge. Leave the seeds and membranes in the pepper for heat. Brew as usual and enjoy.
The brewing process brings out the flavors in the pepper, and you’ll get a good burn in the throat. A dash of dark chocolate or cinnamon will make this one of the most complex drinks you’ll ever have.
I’m more of a red man, but I love a good Green Chili Cheeseburger. Either way, Hatch’s chiles are all good. I lived in New Mexico surrounded by chili farms, and I really miss fresh-roasted chili. It’s hard to get real spice anywhere outside the Southwest.

Is there an herbal ping list?
I could never understand why some folks consider burning ones mouth lining a pleasurable thing. I must be a sissy!
Soup looks great! THX!
It’s like exercise, the initial pain is worth the gain. It’s good for your health and also releases endorphins. ;)
I’m a coffee fanatic and have tons of coffee recipes.
As you know, there are a myriad of ways to brew coffee. I’ve tried them all.
I’m dying to try your recipe.
COULD YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC? You say “fill the charger” and “add a shot of coffee”........what exactly does that mean?
It’s for an espresso maker. The charger in an espresso machine is the metal basket were the grounds go. Just place the peppers on top of the grounds.
I don’t think it would work in a regular coffee maker—espresso machines operate at high-pressure and higher temperature. This extracts the chili’s essence.
Thanks.
That makes it clearer....you use an espresso machine.
Got a recommendation for a good maker brand?
Also the brand and bean grind you’d recommend.
As to coffee, for starters, most any blend will do. It depends on you tastes. I like Italian roast and some espresso blends. My preferred coffee is from a local shop here in Tampa, but you can use whatever blend you like. For a real Italian espresso try Lavazza.
The main thing is to grind the beans fresh--espresso concentrates the flavor and even "fresh" ground coffee tastes stale quickly.
This sounds good. I wonder how it could be made to work with a Keurig? Maybe use one of those cartridges?
Lavazza....now I know you’re a coffee expert.
Happens to be my fave.
A nearby store actually has a Lavazza coffee machine (home versions cost a thousand dollars).
Makes the best cappuccinos in the world.
Seriously, I doubt Kuerigs produce enough pressure or heat. I'm not a fan of them. For one cup of coffee, I prefer a French press. It's not as convenient, but there is no comparison.
If you're really a nerd, you need to get a siphon coffee maker.
Not that I'm aware of, but it sounds like a good idea.
For arthritis in my hands, I mix a little cayenne with a little bit of hand lotion and rub it on, then put on gloves.
First time I tried it, I mixed up a small jar full, for continued use, but it grew mold, so now I just mix up a little dab each time.
bttt
Sprinkled onto over easy eggs before the flip. Then Cholula Sauce into my potatoes O’Brian. I’ve been hanging onto shaking steering wheels for about 50 years now. I think I need more capsicum....
