On Dec. 19, 2016, Kansas game wardens came to the home of Mark and Kim Mcgaughey regarding a deer they said the family kept illegally as a pet. The mule deer doe, which the family had named Faline and which they had had for about 22 months, was eventually shot and killed by game wardens a few minutes later on the property. A western Kansas family is angry that game wardens killed a deer that had been their pet for 22 months and was like one of the family. Kim Mcgaughey said the deer would butt its head on the door to be let inside the house, go on walks with the family, snuggle with people and play with her grandson and dogs.

We have salt licks for the mule deer at our ranch in the sierra. They bed down near them every night, and even kick coyotes to death if they come near their turf.
.
.
I see that you’ve had your prescribed lobotomy!
Sleep on.
Now that’s ironic given that the prions for cervid wasting were more likely than not released or accentuated by human activities.
Sounds like that farmer should a
have done better, servicing the wiring on those tractors!
.
>> “so what’s the problem here ?” <<
To a normal person, relentless government thuggery.
To a jerk, no problem at all.
.
Mom blames the deer for being “domesticated”.
Pets are against the law.
But.....
Your opinion is golden.
The rest, even if the facts are stated, is worthy of ridicule.
ah...RAT method of discussion.
People don’t like the law ? change it.
That's a bogus excuse right up there with "it's for the sake of the children".
First off, that doe lives on a family farm so it's probably 99.99999999% unlikely to have the disease.
If it did have the disease, the only way it could have caught it is from other deer in the area which means they already have it............
This is a classic example of a law that was primarily aimed at city dwellers but taken to the extreme to include this farm family.......
Here's another stupid law: it's a federal crime to have a bird of prey in your possession unless you are a licensed falconer or vet licensed to give care to an injured raptor. If you should find an injured raptor, it is against the law for you to pick it up and give it care or to transport it to a licensed vet. You have to leave it where it is and contact your state DNR.......
The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 also makes it illegal to kill, sell, buy, or possess any part of an alive or dead migratory bird such as a feather from an eagle or hawk or owl.................Stupid laws which have gone out of control
Who do YOU think?
.
You’d fit in well at DU or Huff-Po
you again ?
I thought you saw your shadow and we wouldn’t have to deal with your rantings for 6 weeks.
In any case, flame away, as I won’t take your bait.
so...buh-bye.
.
OK, I’ll come over to DU when I want to see you.

An excellent question. Why don't you have a word with them to stay put and keep out of our hair?
It’s “WILD”Life, get it? Learn something about deer, wildlife management and the proper role of humans and animals and get back to me.
I’m thinking this is going to take you a while.
Naw, I’m sure I’d taste like shit.
Now the deer I cull off my farm and the mountain, that is some damn fine vittles, I’m telling you.
Sittin on the front porch, we watch them growing up, cute as buttons. Since I don’t treat like pets, I’ve got no scruples in dropping the hammer on them.
Grade AAA, organic, chemical free, free range venison, it’s what America grew up on.
You might try it, if’n you weren’t such a snowflake.
Fawn found orphaned;
bottle raised from early age on farm; it won't leave now
Nice strawman.
Do likewise with Constitution noob.
Snowflake... Now that is rich coming from a sub-year noob to an 18 year regular.
When we hunt, we go elsewhere.
Neither I nor my neighbors allow deer hunting in our area.
Bear hunting is OK, as we prefer to keep the bears in the distance. Coyotes, bag all you want.
I suspect you have snow between your ears.
You know nothing about quality of life.
.
.
I’m thinking that a statist thug like you won’t last long in these parts.
You just don’t fit here.
