A series of positive UK economic data has defied economists' predictions of a sharp downturn immediately after the Brexit vote. The FT's Martin Sandbu and Chris Giles unpick why consumer spending has been so strong and discuss the outlook for 2017.
It's well worth it to go to the FT site and wander around on this single positive Brexit article while almost every other one is handwringing. THere is mild acknowledgement as to the overwhelming predictions that Brexit would trash Britain's economy.
The oligarchy in the EU tried to create fear and distrust over Brexit vote.
Now we learn that propaganda them was also false? surprise, surprise!
Prediction? Bravo Sierra!!! That was #FakeNews meant to influence the vote! Who knew those economists were Russian. /s
Now, you gotta dive into the memory hole to find it.
Same thing happened under Reagan. MSM caterwauling about how the economy was going to tank under RWR economic policy. Then, when it took off like a rocket, they started sniffing about "hamburger-flipper jobs."
Have the “experts” ever been right?
How can I get a job as an expert?
While we are investigating undue influence on elections (whether it is hacking, leaking, or propaganda) who is looking into US dollars funding the plans to influence Israeli elections, and the efforts to blunt the BREXIT elections in the UK, and threats to “put Britain in the back of the queue” for trade?
And the DOW is flirting with 20K....
On of the more famous examples was when Margaret Thatcher was starting her economic reforms, 365 "Eminent Economists" took out a full page ad in the London Times predicting economic catastrophy. She ignored them and the UK economy went from the "Sick man of Europe" to the fastest growing economy in Europe.
They stated the "economic consensus."
