I’m pretty sure that inaugural day is going to be ‘national bird day’ as Americans say good riddance to the outgoing president
Buy a duck stamp.
Nice bird. We do a lot of bird-watching from our house.
We do too. The birds are going nuts today at our feeders.

About 4 years ago, our (dick) liberal neighbors turned us in to the county for maintaining a bird feeder. We were fined $150 and forced to remove the feeder.
Not going to ruin your thread by sending one to Obama and the Rats.
Seriously??? What the hell kind of place won’t allow bird feeders?
Happy Birdday!
Why is there a European Great Tit instead of an American bird on the National Bird Day ad?

Right now in the back yard, the Northern Mockingbirds, Tom and Mrs. Tom, are sitting on top of the jasmine trellis looking deeply offended. (It’s cloudy and cold today.) A group of finches is in one of the trees, and some mourning doves are eating seed from the ground under one of the feeders.
I was just out in front, and there was a female cardinal in the tree, chip-chipping. I don’t know if it’s Mrs. Bill, who is usually in the back yard, or a strange girl cardinal.
I gave somebody a bird earlier today.
Oh wait, different bird.
Burn down a wind farm!
That is bizarro!!
It is snowing here today with temps in the teens. I’m seeing a good variety of feeder birds: cardinals, gold finches, sparrows, starlings, junco (on the ground underneath), tufted titmice, nuthatches, downy, hairy, and pileated woodpeckers, northern flicker, gray catbird, chickadees, and wrens. Oh, and a sharp shinned hawk stopped by to see if he could grab one of them, or maybe a mouse or a chipmunk? I’m trying to capture a few photos through the window, but they’re not terribly clear. Only a few have turned out ok so far today. If I can, I will try to share.
Islander, you may be busy today, but thought you might be interested in this thread. Maybe even ping the birdy list?

Cardinal and unknown bird - if anyone can identify the brown bird, please let me know, thanks!
