President George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration this month.
In a statement Tuesday, the former presidents office said the Bushes are pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power a hallmark of American democracy and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.
The decision makes Bush the second living president to attend Trump's inauguration ceremonies. President Jimmy Carter announced his decision to attend last year.
President George H.W. Bush, 92, is not expected to attend. His spokesman cited his advanced age in a statement to Politico last month about the president's decision not to attend the inauguration.
President Bill Clinton has not announced whether he will attend the event after Trumps contentious presidential race against his wife, Hillary Clinton.
President Obama is expected, as per custom, to attend inauguration events at the Capitol building before departing.

He only said that to preserve any hope of a political future.
No one knows if he actually did.

Former-President Carter has brain cancer.
Highly doubtful that GHWB is that bad off.

Like hadaclueonce, I will spent my last dollar to prevent George P. Bush from being elected to anything beyond Land Commissioner.
He is not a natural born citizen, his mother was still a Mexican national when he was born.

Same here, attend or don’t doesn’t matter to me. The Bush’s are a part of the problem in this country not the solution, they are purely Republican Party animals and the old man made it clear he despised Reagan’s conservatism and discarded it as soon as he took the oath of office.
The Bush’s like the Clinton’s just need to to away...

George HW Bush and George W Bush are largely responsible for the 30 million illegal aliens we have in this country and for the stranglehold of the Cheap Labor Express on the GOP that was broken by Donald Trump.
They had planned on sticking us with another amnesty candidate just like every election since the last amnesty.
It was only Trump that gave the citizens the possibility of keeping the rule of law and our country.

I agree with you - happy that Dubya and Laura Bush will be attending....but it seems our wish that the Clintons NOT attend has been refuted. The Clintons are now saying they will attend. UGH!

I hope he keeps up his tradition of keeping his mouth shut about the current presidents policies.
George W. sure did a good job of keeping his mouth shut about his own policies while he was President, didn't he? Sent our troops off to war and then couldn't even be bothered to support them when they were attacked at home. Which is worse, the enemy at the gate or the enemy within the gate? No more Bushes ever again.

George HW Bush is ticked off that his plans to change the USA into North Mexico, advanced by his son George W. and supposed to be completed by his other son Yeb!, through non-enforcement of immigration laws and borders, will now be reversed. The New World Order that he initiated is coming apart before his eyes.Kind of happy he is living to see it. Thought he was hot stuff. Reagan set him up for a real contibution. Instead, he gave us Clinton.

Why shouldn't he. He's a big wig. Former governor and failed candidate for the same office.... These are the kind of people invited and welcomed. So, John Kasich will be hogging the cameras even more than Jummah Cawtah?
