There's a third possibility. I use computers as tools. To me, there should be no need to "adjust" to a new user interface, any more than there is any need to "adjust" to a new design of hammer or power drill. If Black & Decker comes out with a power drill that I have to hold using both hands and activate with my tongue, I'm not going to like it. And if I am forced to use it, I'm going to complain that it's not an improvement.
Microsoft's recent user interface changes are pure marketing cr@p in terms of productivity and utility. They do, on the other hand, well serve their intended function of selling more stuff to the users.
FYI, I use computers as tools also - for coding, database development, server and web site management, photo(shop) editing, etc. Thus far I am having no problems or use issues with this latest version of the tool. YMMV
