After generations of his family spent their lives as outlaws for making the infamous Irish poitín, Pádraic Ó Griallais has finally been able to carry out the family business in the open just under a decade after the spirit was outlawed.
Taking a career break from his job as a high school teacher to establish a new business based on his old family recipe, Ó Griallais is free to produce and sell the highly alcoholic spirit as he pleases without the interference of the Gardaí [Irish police], who hounded the previous poitín distillers in his family with raids to put a stop to the production of the beverage that was outlawed from 1661 to 1997 due to excise regulations.
The production of the spirit was regulated by the Irish Department of Agriculture in 1997 but only under their specific regulations. Luckily the regulations still allow Ó Griallais to use the botanical bogbean that grows around his familys homeland around Indreabhán, County Galway, that makes their specific recipe so special.

I’m looking forward to R1 when it comes out on DVD.
I don’t go to movies in the theater any more.
I went with my son to see it on Christmas Eve Day, otherwise, I wouldn’t have seen it, as I don’t like going to movies alone. It was a good time, just like the days when he lived closer and we went to movies together. So I will get it if I can, when it comes out on DVD. I will probably begin to search eBay for it shortly after its release.
It’s an excellent movie!!!
I got all the Transformers movies on eBay as well as the mini-series “The Bible.” I go there of necessity when I need something. Including books. :o])
My bathroom is rid of clothes, now and is somewhat back to “normal.” I was hoping (again) that my deposit was in as I am out of so many things, but it isn’t.
I realized that because my cholesterol was so low last check, my skin got dry overnight, it seems. So I’ll start eating a little more fat. Can’t hoit.
So I’ll plan on going in to Vegas this morning, though I really don’t feel up to it.
I’m going to go have a breathing treatment before I have to open up.
I have to go to Charlotte today to the Boy Scout store. Pat and Vlad need new pants: they have grown taller. I thought maybe Vlad could wear Pat’s old pants, but they’re already too short for him.
First, however, I will go to Weight Watchers.
After stumbling and staggering my way to the clubhouse, I’ve decided this is not a good day to drive. So I will stay home and do quiet, slow things.
Two more packets go in the mail today, and I will hand deliver the last one tomorrow morning. I’m hoping it will shake things up enough that Berta is evicted (as she should have been two years ago) and that the Klingon is rendered powerless.
These people deserve better from authority figures than what they are getting. Me? I can pretty much take care of myself, but there are a lot of folks here who are too old, frail and sick to take care of themselves in any way.
And that’s where I come in.
Of course i’ll share it with you. :)
Oh, I hope your not allergic to Wookie hair, ‘cos there is a lot of it the vacuum hasn’t managed to remove yet.
beautiful, isn’t it. :)
A description of the Falcon I’ve not heard in a long time....
:)
Wookies are our friends....
The young boys admired it very much.
I’ve been very cold, lately, so just a while ago, I turned the oven on. And right now, there are cookies basking in the warmth as we speak.
And maybe I can warm up, as well. I won’t eat many of them, but I will share. These are the Ghirardelli chocolate chips as opposed to the betty Crocker ones. These have a better texture.
What I really want is to go to bed and stay there. But I will walk out to drop off the packets, then sit with the peeps for a while, but won’t stay out long. I’m too tired.
So did the old lady!
We’ll be going Uptown after lunch. Shopping at the Scout store, then drop Elen at school on the way home.
Ping to #1752.
It would be nice to feel like driving anywhere. It would even be nice to feel like going out to sit with the peeps. I have to mail the packets, so I may as well sit for a bit.
I don’t feel like going, but the boys need the uniforms, and dropping Elen at school adds very little hassle.
Oh. Golly. I just remembered that Charlie is going on the bus today. I’ll go sit for a few minutes and see if LuDean will come out. If not, I’ll come back in and behave myself. Somehow. :o|
Oh, Darks! What an amazing thing! Will this thread have legs of its own, or do we of the Undead Thread need to help it along? I LIKE it! :o])
